HEX Code question?

How come Edge reads a longer number than what's on the firewall? The firewall shows 3 letters and one number. Edge reads this #RXCM5A6.HEX So would the HEX start at the X and read XCM5?

The Hex the EDGE gives you isnt even complete. I thnk a full strategic code is one number longer than the edge's. This is just Fords way of grouping similar ECU's. Why they have so many I couldnt tell you.

Hey - that procedure is in the Edge manual - what you are reading will be the strategy ( calibration) code.

The number on the PCM label on the firewall is the Box code. If you've been reflashed for any reason, then it's best to get extract the code from the PCM.

The first 5 characters are the 'family' - the last two are usually required for full custom tuning.

F150's sure do have a lot of these, every MY.....

Experts - take it away from here ....

That's what I'm wondering I was reflashed. How to I extract the code. I only see the strategy code when The Edge booted up. Am I doing something wrong or not doing something I need too?

Good question, buddy - since I don't have one, I can't guide you through the procedure, but I'm sure there is a simple one for displaying strategy, anytime you need to....gotta be.

Someone conversant with this will be along shortly .....

Good luck.

Thanks

Is there some trick to getting that info? I didn't see anything in my owners manual that showed how to get it.

I think he means using an Edge, PRP-boy !

White - lemme download the dang manual (again, lol) and see if I can find the appropriate section for ya, as it appears all the other Edge ****'s don't wanna help here

Back in a sec ...

OK - I'm back - Diagnostic Menu ( page 18,19), from the Main menu - Version Info - will display your HEX code.
