I've been driving my new f150 for about 4 months now. It is a supercab 07, 4.6L, 6.5' bed (blue/grey). I drove it downtown the other day and had a very hard time parking. I've seen other full size trucks in the parking garage but this truck was almost impossible to fit. I love the truck but am now wondering if I shouldnt have bought a regular cab. Before this, I had a small nissan truck. I always wanted a full size ford. They are the definitely the best looking. I guess I am locked in for a while.
The only minor issues I have are:
1 hard to park - not sure what I can do here
2 too quiet (can't hear the engine) - maybe a new exhaust
3 seats are not that comfortable for sitting in traffic - maybe a seat cover (I wanted dark grey seats anyway)

1) I find it easier to park by backing in.
Aim the mirrors a little low...If you can see the rear tires and parking lines...you should be able to line it up perfectly every time.
Just watch out for the huge blind spot otherwise known as a tailgate.
It takes a little getting used to, once mastered...it's a piece of cake.
2) Maybe I'm getting old...but I like my truck quite. Used to have moded Mustang that sounded great/loud but I got tired of that after awhile. To each his own.

a regular cab is what im looking for too, i dont need the back seats and im sure its a lot easier to drive/park/use. Too quiet? Magnaflow exhaust. Seats uncomfortable, i think theyre called wet okele or something close, they make cloth seat covers that are a little nicer than stock seats.
Backing in is the only way to go. I had a crew cab with the backup sensors and got used to them. My new super cab doesn't have them so it's a pain. Also when I'm parked at the grocery store, it's another pita to get the groceries in the back seat because of the suicide doors. Next truck is going to be another crew cab.....
First off, your still used to the small Nissan. It'll take some time to get used to the manoeuvres needed to park a full size truck. Stay away from those tight spots your probably used to using, they don't work with this rig. EVERY parking job requires wide sweeping turns, make sure to pick areas that allow this when possible, when it's not backing in is the only way to go. With some practice you'll be parking that beast like a pro.
Parking is all what you get used to. I have the crew with the 6.5 box. I'll take it ALMOST anywhere. I had a ext cab lb on my superduty. I could squeeze that thing in anywhere. You just need to practice and get what works for you. I once had a company vehicle that was an astro van with only 4 windows. Back and main doors. I had to back up on a road just about 2 foot wider than the van for about 1/4 mile with swamp on either side. I learned to use the mirrors really well in that van. I rarely do anything more than back up with the mirrors now.
As far as the seats. Power seats are way more adjustable. If you dont have power seats and find the seats uncomfortable, you might want to get them. I 6.3+ and I crank the seat all the way up to take the pressure off of my knees.
Exhaust is fun if you want it get it. I like to hear V8's as well. 33 and I still havent grown up.

go drive a tractor trailer for awhile, after learning how to drive, and park a tractor trailer you can drive anything, anywhere no matter how tight. depth perception is a funny thing. just like your mirror says"objects in mirror are closer then they appear" if all else fails use the #1 rule "G.O.A.L."

As I make turns I think to myself "wiiiide tuuuurning raaadius...". I know the screw is 6" shorter. Maybe that makes a big difference. I'm not sure Ford would let me trade now.. lol.. I haven't found any problems parking at the grocery stores. I like how the door stops at just the right spot when I open it. My major problem was the parking garage. I just have to keep driving the car to work and save the truck for the weekends. I commute about 25 miles to the city but it's nice to drive the truck once in a while to work...
You will get used to it. I'm sure all new truck owners deal with it. I went from a small BMW 325i to a full size truck. I back in everywhere I can now...sooo much easier to park that way

i back in 99% of the time but i pull straight in when i give this girl a ride she freaks out every time cuz she thinks we are gonna hit the other cars hahahaha
try parking at a college last week i parked in a parking garage i dont usually park in and i was seriously over the line on both sides
a friend of mine also on this site and ftw(alomar) when he went to a 07 scab from a 04 heritage single cab on the second night he had it we went to a local show and he backed into my truck trying to back in, but no damage so all is well

I park on double spaces at the parking lot, I mean, no one is going to pay me for the door dings, no one.
I once hit a honda when I was backing out from my house, my brother's friend parked outside behind my truck, it was at night, my truck is tall, rear windows tinted, etc. I just backed up and crash!!
Some rear camera should be a good idea.
2.- I like it VERY much, as quiet as possible.., even when I accelerate. I feel like noise and vibrations are somehow related to poor performace. Silent is related to smoothness.., optimization.., harmony.., tunned, etc.
I love when I can't tell if is on or off (and try to start it again)
The exaust is cool but.., then again... why is making a lot of noise when the truck is moving at 5-15mph???, looks weird, shouldn't that "power noise" be when like 50mph or more?
I mean., if the truck is bursting a "lot of power"(ilussion intented from exausts)..., why is going too slow??, doesn't make sense.
3.- Not sure about the seats, I supose I need to have used other seats considerable more confortable in order to see the difference

My truck with the 145" wheelbase is easy to park... granted it's the long bed... I've never got into a sticky situation other than 1 time when a car cut in front of me, and just parked so I couldn't get out. However, that really has nothing to do with backing in and parking. But rather some stupidity on that other guy.
My Dakota, I've whipped it backing up. It's SUPER easyier than a car, suv, and my F150.
