Rayesbestos Super Stop rotors...big no no
Rayesbestos Super Stop rotors...big no no
Ok heres the story... About three months ago I was searching for brake rotors for the rear of my 2004 f150. I came across rayesbestos superstop rotors and said why not give them a shot. So I bought a set of these at $104 per rotor from autopartswarehouse.com ( will never buy there again) and put them on the truck. Within a week the hat of the rotor started to rust excessively. I did not mind that as long as they perform well. Less then three thousand miles later I have warped rear rotors. I get a bad shimmy when braking through the seat of the truck. Calipers and slides are fine. For the cost of these rotors they are not worth it. I contacted rayesbestos and it is a whole process to get any of my money back. I must ship these rotors that weigh about 35 pounds each at my cost. This is rediculous considering what it would cost to ship. I think I am just going to buy new oem brembos for the rear and sand the pads a little. Autopartswarehouse has the worst customer service. I called them 3 times and got 3 different answers on that I can and cant return these rotors.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. I am in the market for new rotors as I can't stand the OEM brake pads and rotors on my '06 FX4. After much research, I'm going with Power Slot Cryo rotors. Pricey, but a great rotor! I will be putting Carquest blue pads on these.
I've got Powerslots and Hawk pads sitting in my garage waiting to go on. I still need the front left rotor though. Powerslot is on backorder but they should be shipping out to distributors in the next week or two.

I got barely turned OEM rotors on mine (less than .005 removed, within spec, but spec is awfully close to how they ship OE...) and EBC Greenstuff 6000s on it... Stops great. No shimmy, nothing... Just good stopping.

Anyway,
I upgraded my rotars a few months back to Powerslots and couldn't be happier. The difference in braking performance is quite dramatic in comparison to the OEM POS.
Sorry to hear about your troubles.
You live and learn I guess.
I replaced my factory rotors with Raybestos due to bearing failure, and they have been flawless for 15,000 miles. Mine are 4x2 and I know they are different, but they were sturdier built than the originals and are doing fine.
