recon 3rd brakelight help

recon 3rd brakelight help

I installed the unit last Mon and now its leaking inside the cab?
have any of you had this problem?
should i just seal it with silcone or some sort of automotive sealant
what should i do?

I never had a problem with after market 3rd brake lite I replaced my sons with a hella Replaced mine twice with no problems Did you use the washers that fit on the screw ? This is what i did Take third brake light off Clean around where gasket will seal around roof Mount 3rd brake lite make sure you installed rubber washers on the screws Screw in the the the brake lite holding down on the brake lite Tighten till snug while still putting pressure on the brake lite I gave both screws 1 turn to make sure it sealed I hope this will help you out

my stock one did not have rubber washers and the new one did not come with one

Mine didn't have those too but it's not leaking either. I'd get some clear RTV sealant or silicone and just clean both surfaces and lay a THIN bead down. Let it dry for a little while before going driving and it should be A-OK!

No problem with mine either and its been on for about 1 1/2yrs and many passes thru the laser wash. I did put RTV in the holes where the screws go(over the screws actually) just to play it safe.

RTV: room temperature vulcanizing

Basically it means it cures at room temperature w/o using heat or chemicals.
