Been there done that. You would be really surprised at the difference this made. I am at 0 gauge now.

IF anything fix the return to ground wire. The OEM wire is about the width of a pencil and is a weak setup.

I agree, if you only upgrade ONE wire the batt ground to chassis is a must

My lights use to dim really really bad just pushing one 10inch sub. I hated when people would flash me. After i upgraded my wire to 4guage and added a capacitor my problem was solved. No dimming what so ever pushing a solo baric 12L7.

Thats weird, I've never had a problem with the headlights dimming only the interior lights on hard notes.

I have to disagree with everything I've read here, I've done all of the above mentioned remedies and nothing completely eliminated the dimming. I know that you can reduce it but nothing will work to eliminate it, it's just the nature of Ford electronics, simply put, our trucks aren't built to handle any extra add-on's without problems down the road.

unfortunatly your wrong, while the charging system in our trucks arnt optimal for say a 3000 watt substage it will work for systems under 1000 watts after the wiring has been upgraded. then again its obvious you don't know what your talking about, since a bigger alt will fix dimming lights, given you have a alt that can provide the amont of amps needed at 14 volts and given your wiring is sufficient for the amp draw, but to say none of the remidies in this thread work is flat out iggnorant.

What's ignorant? Like I said it's not built to handle the power, hence the larger alternator and it still won't be right. cough (spellcheck) cough

bigger alt and upgraded grounds will get rid of dimming lights (voltage drop). as built our charging systems can't handle much more than about 60 amps of draw before the voltage starts to drop and dimming becomes noticeable (80ish with better wiring). but you came out saying that nothing works, nothing will fix the dimming lights, ford sux, you all are screwed, enjoy dimming lights. as if there is no possible way to fix the problem, but there is, and I will spell it out for you again. A higher amp alt will fix the problem, provided the wiring from the alt to the battery, battery to ground and engine to ground have also been upgraded, obviously you can't grasp this idea but others might be able too
