Talking A good sparkplug story

Well I must say I am very relieved. Had my 30k service done today and went ahead and had the plugs changed as well. My truck has 29300 miles and really only sees highway driving. I use only Shell gasoline in it and put in a can of BG 44K about every 6k miles. Long story short, the plugs came out as easy as can be! My tech buddy followed the TSB with the penetrating oil and all but probably didn't need to. The plugs spun out just like the old days and had NO rust on them at all. I will post pics of them later tonight when I get home. Guess good maintenance and some highway driving really does pay off.

YAY! I had mine changed per a spark knock TSB at 22,000 and they came out easy then too. I'm at 44,000 miles now, and I have no worries whatsoever that there will be any issues at 100,000. I also use Shell, and I think the gas makes all the difference with deposits on the plugs.

I actually took my truck today to get the plugs changed, and 3 shops wouldn't touch it. And they all told me that the dealer wants about $350 to do it. And if something breaks then it could go up to $800 I do all the tune-ups on my vehicles, but don't really want touch my truck due to the problems that I've heard about. I really need it though, I don't wanna say my mileage but it's really up there And I don't have time to leave it at the stealership for 3 days to get the plugs removed.

I paid $51 labor and $57 parts for the plug job.

My truck was an 00' F150 with 165k...Traded it in on an 07...seemed easier than changing the plugs. Cant believe it lasted that long.

Good news ! I also had mine done at around 29k and they came right out. I believe it was about 140.00 total parts and labor at local dealer here. ( I even saved the old ones ) and just hung out at the dealer while it was done.

I`m in the same boat. My stealership wanted close to 500. I to can do the work my self ,but after reading some Threads about broken plugs. I don`t want to try it .
Did find another stealership that will do the plugs for 300 .I`m going to have to bite the bullet and get it done.

This is straight from the engine, did not wipe them off. I highly recommend Shell gasoline!

One more. The brown area's are just normal gas staining, it is not rust or corrosion. All in all a good day!
