Ya tell me about it. i have a Suzuki Samurai (the cheapest rig you can have IMO) and conastantly dump money into it (close to 4k in suspension alone)... those damn rocks just keep testing my "weak links" if you reall want to beat on your truck maybe instead of LT kit you can think of a SAS.

EBROTEN: you know of any distributors/makers of the long travel kit for a 4wd off the top of your head?

Ya get one of those long travel kits I think they are "only" 5 grand for just the front suspension parts. Plus I have only seen long travel kits for
2wd... so us with 4wd (i.e. a real truck) will just have to beat on our suspension as is!
I own both a 4x2 and a 4x4..
I've take my "non-real" truck to places that most jackass's with a 4x4 would get stuck because they don't know what they are doing. Additionally, just because it's 4x4 doesn't make it more "manly" because you can rock crawl or do things like that. Not everybody is into that stuff. My personal feelings about a SAS, well I'll hold back my comments.

FWIW:
jd fab makes very nice 4x4 long travel setup.
hnm fab also makes one i think

I am not saying EVERYONE is into beating on their trucks or off-roading, but obviously the guy who started this thread IS. Also if he keeps breaking his ifs front suspension then perhaps the SAS would be a wise investment for him. A Dana 60 (installed) would be less plus 10x stronger than any LT kit. You have something to say bad about a solid axle?? They are stronger, easier to fix, allow more un-sprung weight, handle more banging around and hold up to far more abuse. The negative? a rough ride i suppose, but then again, in MY OPINION you don't buy a truck for the smooth ride. And obviously the original thread poster doesn't drive softly. And i am sorry about ******* the 4x2 crowd. Yes i too have seen 4x2 get into some pretty gnarly situations but my point being is if you are into trucks and lifts and big tires, why run the 4x2? Why not get the 4x4 ? that way you have it when you need it. Its not about being manly (i love gals in big trucks) but more the idea thats its better to have and not need vs. needing and not having (imo). I would NEVER rock crawl my Ford. But if a buddy calls me up to get him _unstuck, I would like to be able to click her into 4wd. Or if i am towing on a very steep grade going nice and slow but even my LS is losing traction, again i would like to be able to lcick her into 4wd. but either way, .
P.S. Those LT kits are flipping awesome looking!!! Wish i had that kinda cash laying around

Ok...

a 4x2 can go a LOT of places. most people DO underestimate them, but im sorry, a 4x2 can't go EVERYwhere our 4x4 can go (safely, anyway). Sorry bud, don't beleive me? Come over to North CA for some gnarly trails, or Utah (if its closer). Try and take a 4x2 to just some of the "easier" places in MOAB. and good luck. Try and bring your 4x2 up the Rubicon Trail with us during the SNO-days trek and fat chance. Sorry, but some (and only some and few between) trails you NEED 4x4. your rear will just not have enough bite to get you over/through. I have turned my trucks into 4x2 many of times on the trail (busting a drive shaft,a u-joint or a diff, or something else) and was not able to DRIVE out (gotta love a Warn Winch!!) But hey, I guess i can't rag too bad, at least we all got a great taste in truck

Have to agree here. People who think a 2wd is just as capable are very wrong. Sure you can get a lil momentum before you hit that mud hole, but real offroading will stop you in your tracks. Some offroad parks I attend would leave a 2wd stuck in the parking lot.
