I can't be specific with an answer, but I know I was looking at one the other day when this dude pulled up with his FX4 to unload it, and it sure looked like a lot of space is lost. How's that?

Flareside dimensions

I have an '05 flareside and I believe the inside dimensions are the same. The outside flares are small and take up the space between the bed and the fender on a fleetside. I have hauled 4' X 8' plywood sheets and they fit just like in a fleetside bed. I wasn't looking for the flareside when I was shopping, but I like the different look. And the steps on the sides are really handy for getting things out out the bed.

The space between the wheels is exactly the same on both styles (4x8 plywood fits), but there's definitely lost space after that. You can tell just by looking at the size of the hump that goes over the wheels themselves. The outside walls in the bed are further in towards the middle of the bed on the flAreside. Not only is it clearly visible, but they'd have to be.

I have the Extang flip up cover and I really like it alot. I did not get the one with the snaps, I got the one with the j-channel. I have the flareside model as well, and I really wanted it. For me it was just something different than everyone else.

Thumbs up O K.....

Thanks, really useful, didn't know about being limited with covers, caps etc.

Might just go with the styleside.

Before i get mine (a FX4 Flareside) I think the flareside is the stupiest ting you can get in a pick up becasue you loose some space in the trunk but after haveing one, the steps on the sides in thes too tall truck are very usefull and also the looks is better in my opinion.

I feel i don't loose to much usable space with my selection.

Only an observation if tou plan to install a cover or a retrag or similar accesories the choise is limited.
