Helping friends move...
Helping friends move...
Well, one of my Dad's friends gave me a job today. Moving into his new house, which is about 20 miles away. So I said sure... he gave me $200 right off the bat... made another $200 at the end of the day.
So I got my small trailer, and I unloaded my tools that I normally carry around in my bed. I went over to his place down the street, and he had almost everything packed... we basically just had to load it up and move it. So I decided to take all of the heavy stuff first... like his gym equipment, books, tools, etc. I had my truck stacked 3 ft higher than the cab with boxes. I had the trailer stacked about 6 1/2 ft of boxes. Of course I tied them down and everything. I was almost on my bump stops... and I know I had to be towing about 3,000 lbs on the trailer... combined total of around 5,000 lbs.
Now the fun part... going that 20 or so miles. IT was like a serious joke to the truck. I had like 1/2 his house on the back of my truck. Pulled it with no issues at all.
Now it even get's better. His next door neighbor has a Titan... and he is outside watering his flowers. He was shocked as to how in the heck my truck was able to carry all of that weight in the bed.
The Titan owner wanted to know if it was a "special" edition F150. I said, "Sure... it's also got a v10." What's the sad part is he believed me.
So yeah... my F150 base model truck, with power nothing, is somehow an "ultimate pulling rig" according to this guy. I just don't wannna know what he was smoking.
But basically I got the majority of it... my Dad also used the Dakota for some of the lighter stuff. We cleaned out his house in 3 total trips. The last trip was with the bulky stuff like easy chairs, tables, and other furnishings that take up space.
We worked together as a team and while my Dad and I were moving the stuff and unloading it, he was packing, and right as we took the last load, he was finished. So we timed it VERY well.
Wish I had pictures, but I forgot my cell and we wanted to move him out real quick.
So another +1 for my "ultimate pulling rig"... or I mean the F150.
