Diff and tranny covers

What rear differential cover would be best for towing durability? I like the Mag-Hytec but the ones with the load bearing bolts such as TA Performance also have my interest. What do the load bearing bolts do and is there any advantage to this type? While I'm at it, may as well ask opinions on the deep sump tranny pans such as those from Mag-H or Ford. Any opinions on whether these types of pans offer a good advantage for tranny life? As always opinions appreciated.

I see no one has answered your post, so I will take a stab. First of all I don't know about the performance issues, all I know is that they look cool. Take it for what it is.

My favorite so far..

The way it looks is a big consideration but, the rear diff cover with stud girdle bolts will hold your bearing caps in place and reduce flex. Great idea if you really use your truck. As for the deep pan for the tranny the more fluid the longer it takes to heat up. Heat kills transmissions period so a deep pan is a great start to longer tranny life. Hope this helps.

Thanks fella's. That is a nice looking cover Mean. I am leaning towards the one from TA Performance partly due to clearance issues with a large spare tire I squeezed back there and those bearing supports as they seem like a good design.

I don't have anything bad to say about my Mag-Hytec. I love the magnet on the dipstick and on the drain plug. The drain plug and dipstick make changing the fluid a 5 minute job. Not to mention it looks great, holds a lot more oil and cools better!

I'm not sure, it was included in the price of my gears.

Do the F-150's have any heat issues with rear ends? One of the main reasons I bought mine was because the 150 holds more oil and has a bigger ring gear stock than anyone else's 1/2 ton. Except "tieota", but then I looked at the wheels and laughed.....

I've not heard of any, however b/c of the lower gears/bigger tire/ blah blah combo and pulling decent loads I want to beef up anything possible and these are relatively cheap mods. Plus like the others have said the diff covers look good too. The Mag diff cover can be had for something like $230-240 through OffRoadUnlimited.com .....Mag tranny pans are in the $250 range and Ford makes one that's similar to the Mag for about $200.
