04 f150 question

does the 04 f150 have a pcv valve?? i looked and of course there is a hose off the intake that runs to the valve cover, but it looks nothing like a pcv... the computers up at my work says the 04 does, but that could mean the heritage because the 05+ does not... anyone know the answer to this?? and if that is a actual pcv does this one screw in?

The valve sits in between the hose and the crank case cover on the 4.6 2v. The bottom part is screw in and the top is a quick-release fitting. Don't put a filter breather because it changes the crankcrase pressure: which the PCM uses.

the 5.4L3V has a heated PCV valve located on the drivers side. It is bolted into the intake and connects to the driver side valve cover by the power steering resivoir. Not sure if the 4.6L is the same.

Yeah, but WallyMart sells that Fram crap. At least they do up here in Canuckia. LOL!

You wanna get a proper OEM one, from the Stealer.

BTW, OP - what's wrong with yours? They seldom fail.

Preventative manitenance dude!!

I've always made it part of a regular maintenance schedule for my vehicles as well, but after learning how these PCV's work on the 5.4, I'm not so sure that it's necessary to change it as often as I have in the past on other vehicles. Hey, it's usually only around 5 bux from Ford for the valve itself and in most vehicles it takes all of 15 seconds to change, so, why not, were my thoughts. More than likey this has always been a waste of $5 though. The old ones I took out always flowed properly, and seemed to be as good as the new ones I was replacing them with.

I agree though. Don't get parts like these at Crappy Tire or Wallymart. Been there, done that. I landed up returning it and going to Ford for the part.

Gently, buddy!

Check this out: https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...ht=fuel+filter

Take your time - piece of cake. Wear eye protection and have lots of rags on hand lol!

There are two different sizes - yours (2004) will be the smaller one 3/8".

If it's the blue clips - there is now a part #, but I don't have a price.
