Couple leveling kit questions before I pull the trigger!

I am about to go about purchasing and installing a leveling kit and BFG 33" tires on my '05 2wd Screw w/ the 17" mach. aluminum wheels. I've read these forums and searched, and there seems to be different opinions on these questions, so I thought I would ask them myself so I don't burn my money!

1. If I want the truck to sit level, is a 2" leveling kit enough for a '05 2wd Screw w/ the 17" mach. aluminum wheels? I've read some reports on here that says the 2.5" kit makes the front higher on a 2wd while others have said it doesn't. I definitely don't want the front higher than the back as I don't like the look.

2. Do either the Daystar or Auto Spring kits change the factory ride?

3. Are there issues with the Daystar considering that you must disassemble the strut to install it and that it is made out of plastic?

Thank you so much for your time and answers!

Every truck is different, so the best method is to actually measure your truck and see how much you need. Park on flat level ground and measure to the top of the wheel opening front and rear, and the difference is how much lift you will need to level out your truck.

The autospring does not change the ride qaulity, don't know about the daystar.

If you are concerned about the plastic in the daystar, try the revtek, it's just like the daystar, but it's made out of aluminum.

I asked about the Daystar because the place I was going to take it to be installed only has the Daystar and won't install anything they don't carry.

Any more opinions?

I have the 2 1/2 inch daystar on my truck and its polyurethane not plastic. The same stuff they make the good suspension bushings out of. And it didn't change the ride at all.

I have a 2.5" procomp on my 2wd Scab and it measured just about even, but the front was about .125" higher. I installed the Autospring 1.5" blocks in the rear last week and while not level, the truck looks great in my eyes and finally has the stance that I wanted. This is with 33" BFG's on factory 18's. As for the ride, my Procomp kit is poly and didn't change my ride at all. Good luck.

I have installed both the daystar and the autospring. The autospring is a do it yourself job, just basic hand tools and 1-2 hours to complete. The daystar has to be done with a spring compressor, normally and automotive shop job. The daystar will affect the ride because it increases the preload on the spring. I have the 2" autospring offset design. Truck sits level, cant tell its on there. I like the AS just because I can install it myself.

Yes. Any time you mess with the front suspension you will need an alignment afterward.

i'm suprised that nobody on this forum has talked about the rancho quick lift. its adjustable from 1.00-2.50" and also allows you to adjust the shock responce. this is what i had planned to do.

might be something to consider.

Just depends on how much money you want to spend. 100 bucks for a spacer and do it yourself (AS) or installed (plus about 150 bucks). The adjustable shocks are great, but the price goes up.

will those work on a 04 2wd?, they only have them listed for an 05 4wd.

I did the 2" auto spring in my 05 and now in my 07.Both went in very easy and the ride was the same on both after install.I also just had the autospring rear lift done and I am happy with the way it sits and rides. For the cost and ease of install my vote would be the autospring.

just got a response from Rancho

Thank you for your interest in Rancho products. Unfortunately the 2WD and 4WD drive use different struts which are not interchangeable with each other.
so looks like I'm stuck with having to use spacers
