Grille Damage by a large bird - :(

So... During my short trip home, a LARGE bird hit my grill, skated up my hood and rolled off to the drivers side. Needless to say I am now in the market for a new Grille, can anyone inform me how well a Mark LT grill fits (06) any mods needed or a straight install? Or a good resource for getting a factory replacement under $150?

Here are some pics, sorry for the quality, it is dark, my baby is VERY DIRTY, and my camera went dead after the 3rd picture.

Yes, the grille was hit/broke hard enough to place the emblem BEHIND the plastic grille. I can not get it back in place as is right now.

*edit* after looking again, both in pictures and in real(thought maybe I was losing it, a bird could not have done this) I went back outside to check again, It was something that would have left blood on the hood and emblem (very very little) please note the black marks on the emblem threw me off till I went back to see again they are from where the grill (honeycomb part was pushed from behind to the front scraping it, the first picture shows the hood scratches from the beak I am guessing...... who knows whatever it was, it sucked! *end edit*

Possibly a piece of rubber like the stuff that comes off of 18 wheelers tires on the highways. I had a piece fly up and hit my truck the other day, lucky for me though it hit in an area where I was basically able to buff it out.

if you go aftermarket be sure to ask the quality of the grill you're looking into buying here. Also steer clear of ABS chrome ebay specials. I bought one that's exactly like our H bar grills and it looked like crap after a few weeks of driving around. I ended up going back on ebay and getting a OEM grill from another F150 owner.

I hit a partridge with my old truck and it did $1000 damage...broke the grill, the fan shroud, and the AC condenser It must have just got done eating though, there were seeds/bird parts splattered all over the radiator

That must have been a decent sized bird!! That sucks about the damage though... I hit a bird with my truck, (XLT grille), it hit the honeycomb portion and basically shredded the bird... Feathers and pieces of bird were everywhere...

The Mark LT grill will fit an 06 just fine, bolts up just as your F-150 grill does, I had this one onmy truck for a while but sold it for the Roush grill, both LT and Roush will cost your more then $150.
I paid $196 for the Roush and prefer it over the LT. IMO

Too bad about the grille, musta hit just right or plenty hard. I just put the '07 Lariat Chrome edition grille on mine. Was about $250 w/shipping on ebay. Costs around $325 from the dealer. Fit is perfect. Check the online classifieds here, I'm getting rid of the stocker cheap.

Actually, there are two chrome edition grilles for the '07. There's the XLT and the Lariat. Pic. is of the Lariat.

Looks like you have an XLT due to the Honeycomb grille. If the bezel is still good, you can get a replacement off of ebay, do an aftermarket, or do an upgraded factory like a Mark LT, Lariat, King Ranch etc...

I did the FX-4 bar style grille and haven't regretted it. I get positive feedback on it all the time.
