Soon to be goodbye :-(

Well, found out today my company is taking back all of their pickup trucks. So I'm going to lose my F-150 4x4.

This sure is a bitter pill to swallow.... though I am getting a brand new loaded Fusion SEL.

Yeah I know I shouldn't complain... but after having a truck for a couple of years, I just hate the thought of riding on the ground, besides the fact that I won't have any way to haul anything around.

Maybe I'll buy the F-150 (which I can do, at the wholesale price) but that's a lot of money to have sitting around in a vehicle I'd just use for weekends.

What to do!!!

Buy a black Lariat screw, lower it 2/2, and throw a Roush supercharger on it. It'll Rock!

I hear ya, i would have a hard time driving so low to the ground myself. That is one of the reasons im not driving a Mustang GT.

Get yourself an entry level F150, They are not too expensive. Don't spend too much money on a lariat, because you will be only using the truck on the weekends.

That's exactly what I did with no regrets.

You will be OK.

This month I bought a Fusion SEL for the wife, and we added moonroof, V6, tinted windows, Weathertech mats, and LoJack. The Fusion is quite spacious, and it has an understated luxurious aspect to it. You cannot not like the car. The V6 has about 220hp, plus you will get 31mpg easy on the highway. We chose the Merlot with tan leather interior. I am impressed with Ford's new product.

My F150 is a weekend only truck

I have a 2006 Focus SE ZX3 5-speed for a DD which isn't bad either- great, fun car to drive.

You'll love the Fusion, though, especially a loaded one. they are very nice cars, and ride like a dream

I'd like to have a Fusion... but it's not RWD.

Actually... there are tons of cars I like... but I look at the FWD and it just turns me off. Just me though... but I would rather have the driving aspect of a plain jane RWD versus the not-so-fun driving aspect of a plain jane FWD car.

I've driven a FWD for 60k and never got used to it... RWD is for me, and that's the truth.

With me, I got tired of the torque steer, the predictability, and most of all the overall feel of the car. Even though it was loaded to the kilt... none of that stuff really mattered to me in the end. I wanted an everyday RWD vehicle, and I bought my F150... and I swear I could never be happier.

could very well be the KIND of FWD car you were driving. They have made great strides in FWD drivability. My focus is a blast to drive. Not to mention you can get the fusion in AWD..

As has been said, it was probably the kind of FWD you had. My company forced us into FWD cars in 1981 (Celebrities, Skylarks, Reliants, etc) and I didn't like any of them. After about a half dozen (60-70K each) I finally got a few I liked and some you couldn't tell which end pulled them.

Well at least you get a company car. I like the looks of the Fusions but from what I have been reading on the Fusion forums they don't get that great of gas mileage when your get V6 and AWD same with the Edge. You could probably pick up a low end F150 for hauling and personalize slowly.

I drove a Ford Escape v6... with the FWD based 4x4 for 60k. It stunk. I have also driven many other cars that are FWD... some of which were quite recent actually... such as a '06 Maxima, '00 Camry, and a Buick Lucern (sp?). The Maxima was fun to drive in a straight away, but you cut the wheel or don't "grip it" like a monkey, you would swear that the car would take you off the road. The Camry wasn't as bad... but I wasn't happy on the highway feel... The Lucern wasn't bad... but it felt like it was still going to rip you off the road.

I've just never been able to get past the torque steer and other issues associated with FWD.

Well, if they were company cars... I wouldn't car what end pulled them too... LOL

I'm lucky. The company bought all new 2007 F-150's earlier this year. I got a regular cab, long bed with a 5.4L & tow package. That 4-door regular cab is pretty neat. Fleet price was only $11K each. That thing really gets up and goes! Blows the doors off of our Chevy and Dodge trucks no problem.

After considering this a bit

I think I may buy one of my work buddy's F-150. Same company truck (they're taking all of them away), his is a white 4x4 Scab with about 20K more miles on is (75k) so I'd be able to get it for around $9K.

Not bad for a truck that had a $31K sticker price 2 years ago.

For $9K I would be jumping all over it. Heck at that price you could turn around and sell it and make a few K on the deal.
