Help! Help! Help! What Do I Have Going On Here

I may have learned a little lesson on buying a truck while I am in Iraq, but now I need help figuring out what I have on this truck. I found this truck on Autotrader.com. I am almost positive it said 6inch lift on the specs. When I flew my buddy to Atlanta to get it he noticed the tow hooks were not in the normal spot. He asked the seller if it had a body lift. The seller told him "all suspension" My buddy noticed the tow hooks were bigger than normal size so he assumed that is why they were not in the right spot. In a previous post some super sharp people brought it to my attention that this was a 3 inch body lift. I emailed my buddy to get confirmation. He thought off the top of his head "no way" He went and did some invesigating and said "yea its definitely some type of body lift" He admits he's not a ford guy but says he has not seen anything like this before. He gave me some measurements.

82-83 inches to top of cab
44 3/4 inches front fender height
46 1/4 inches rear fender height
16 1/2 inches from ground to lowest part of frame
17 1/4 inches from ground to bottom middle of cab
4 1/2 inches from bottom leaf to top of axle

Here is also what my buddy said.....
It has gap guards to cover the the space between body and frame
The back bumper has been relocated
The front spindles,a arms what ever they are called are silver instead of black
Different block in back under the leaf spring

Does all this sound right for a 3 inch body lift??
Has anyone seen other ways of getting a truck to look this way????

I admit I don't know a whole lot about this stuff. I wonder if the rich banker who sold it to me just didnt know either. But I was told it drives, runs, and looks great. I still paid way under value so I am still pleased, but now Im just confused........... If you need more info let me know. Thanks all

It's without a doubt just a 3" body lift and a leveling kit. The Lower Control Arms are silver on these trucks. 4WDs come with 2" blocks so anything different than that is an aftermarket block. The tow hooks look stock too.

tell your buddy to get under the truck and get some pictures of the frame and suspension. There looks to be more than just a body lift to me. One sure thing is that your tow hooks would be inside the holes right above them in the air dam if it was only suspension.

If we can figure out what's really installed on this truck we might be able to figure a value and if you got screwed or not on the price. Either way you didn't get what was advertised so I'd be pissed. Double check the advertisement and gather your paperwork to either get the seller to give you some cash back or plan on talking to a lawyer.

The tow hooks "look" square but the light might be doing that. 04 hooks are round.

Yes Yes I am pleased with the looks and other features. I love it. Just a little disgruntled when I am told one thing just to find out another.

x2. The front picture showing the dropped tow hooks and showing that much of the skid makes it pretty clear you have a 3" body. Atleast it looks like a good job though, everything lines up nicely. Awesome truck

Ofcourse the add is pulled of Autotrader. I emailed them so see if they can pull it back up. But my buddy said the seller twice reffered to it as a suspension lift so Im sure it was advertised as that. I hope autotrader gets back to me.

nope. very active thread atm. had like 6 replies while I was editing my post!

Not sure why you was talking about the lower control arms and the rest. Most of that stuff stays on lifted trucks. Well at least they did on my pro comp lift.

How much difference in money value are we talking here with a 3 inch body lift and leveling kit with labor versus a 6 inch suspension with labor. Is it HUGE????

Look at the OP's original post he was thinking they were aftermarket since they were Silver and not Black.

Depending on the lift, the majority of them will be 50-100% more.

Well I guess in a way I can really only kick myself unless I get that add from Autotrader. If I have the proof of false advertisement this seller will be paying for a top of the line alarm and autostart for me. I am still pleased but a little miffed. I must have looked at a million trucks since I have been here, factory and aftermarket. I paid 25,000 for this truck. From what I researched alot of people were asking around this price or a little less for stock trucks. This truck is in top shape. It was driven from Atlanta all the way to Fargo ND. It looks good and is loaded with cool stuff. So I am still happy and I am very excited to get home and drive it. I just hope there arent any more surprises and I hope I don't hear I way overpayed!!!!!
