Modifications don't add squat to a vehicle's value.

I paid $27,000 for my Lariat with zero miles. Sorry. .

Looks like they do if you find the right buyer

Seriously, you can buy a brand new one for just a few thousand more with 0 miles but you got a truck you like and that's important. Technically, if he just posted suspension lift and there's a spacer in there then he's actually telling the truth. Unless he put 6" suspension lift you have no case.

Edit: that first part sounded bad but was meant to be a joke in agreeance with quoted message.

That's debatable. If you was looking to do these mods then you can see the value added to the cost. I don't think $25,000 is bad. It's a sharp looking truck, figure adding $1000 with the body lift installed. Carputer would be about $2000 if it's got descent components in it installed by a shop. Plus the aftermarket tires and wheels another $1500. Figure KBB would value around $20k so I would say that $25k is a fair price.

Yea I understand the bank and market do not find value in mods. But I do. And youre right the important part is I got what I wanted. I could have spent a little more and got a brand new plain jane run of the mill truck. Then spend additional thousands monkeying with it. But If I went to a dealer and saw a plane jane truck for 25,000 or a little less and saw this one sitting right next to it for the same, hands down I would choose this one. Ive been driving old pieces of S**t for a long time and I thought it was time to have some fun and spoil myself.

Sorry man... I would add approximately $3000 maximum for all the mods on that truck since it's used. Even if it did have a full 6" suspension lift I don't know if it's worth $25k. I would have much rather paid about another $5k and got a brand new stock SCREW FX4 w/ zero miles. Plus, I don't know if you financed that 2004 or paid for it outright, you would/could have got 0% interest on a new one.

I'm just real particular (****) about the aftermarket parts on my truck. Would you have picked that head unit, would you have picked that exhaust, etc. etc.

$30k out the door could have got you a fully loaded 2007 FX4 w/ every option... moonroof, navigation, power back window, leather, adjustable pedals, memory seats, etc.

Understandable.......But a soldiers pay over here is just not enough to afford 30,000 truck.

First of all, thank you for your service to this wonderful country of ours.

Secondly, there isn't much difference between a 25k used truck and a 30k new truck. Financing is less expensive on new trucks (even 0%), so in the end, the new truck is less expensive (or about the same).

Now, if you were to buy a new truck and put mods on it? Well, you'd be way over the 30k. The aftermarket parts add very little to resale value unless you find the right buyer, which this seller did. For you, you wanted the mods and may have planned to add them in the future, so it was a good deal for you. For me, I wouldn't add the mods, so I would go new (plus I'm very **** about my vehicles and prefer new) since the mods would add nothing for me.

Bottom line, if you are happy with the truck and happy with what you paid for it, that's all that matters. Enjoy!

Oh yeah...sweet looking truck if you ask me!!

Well I found the fact sheet from Autotrader. I thought I had thrown it away. It does just say "6in lift" It doesnt say how those 6inches came about. So it looks like you're right, I have no case. Just not sure if this seller knew that or not. Like I said he was a fairly well off banker who bought it like this and had it as his toy. He stated verbally twice it was a suspension lift. Maybe he thought it was. Oh well.........thanks for the info, good or bad, and the compliments!!
