Am I crazy?
Am I crazy?
I went to my local speed shop today to look around and get some prices. They have been very good to me in the past and they are within $5 of the net on every part I ever buy.Plus they know what they are selling and are a very good source of info.Well any way my 2007 has 54 miles on it and im looking to mod it and the guys in the store think im nuts for messing with a brand new truck.
This thursday it is going in the shop for a 2" autospring,285/70/17 Toyos/Magnaflow cat back{That cost $300 at local shop},Alignment, new brake pads{big dust problem}.And I am just waiting till the weekend to put in the alpine W200,sirius,amp,sub.So am I crazy for doing things to a brand new truck?
The way I look at it,its mine its my cash and my dealer wont fix any thing any way its all no problem found with the losers.

Seriously...most brake pads say right on the box they need at least a 200 mile brake in period.

Mine was in the driveway about 8 minutes before the mod'ing started, so not crazy there....well maybe a little
As far as the brake thing yeah thats a little crazy.....but whateva! Might as well throw a bigger A/C unit in there to, because you prolly won't like that either!

I usually put around 500 miles on them before the serious mods begin (tires/brakes/suspension) ... electrical (HU/amp/subs/etc..) are game as soon as I have a chance.
Haven't had the time to do anything serious to my current truck though..thinking about getting some new wheels and tires here shortly..

When would be a good time to start modding your new truck? 1 year? 4years? just before trade in? I say start now and make it the way you want it as long as your not financing the new additions. You said that you already have the cash in hand and clearly you have thought about which mods you want.
With the '09 redesign just about a year away I'd say begin the modding sooner than later. This way you can put your OEM takeoffs (wheels/tires, radio, exhaust) up for sale / auction and recoop some of your money. In about a year, who knows what wheels or radio option that may be offered on the newer models and you might be stuck not being able to give yours away. just a thought.
