Expedition Center Console Install... PICS

Alright well having a tan interior f150, i waited for MONTHS to try and get a xlt console on ebay with no luck, and didnt want to go through the hassle of replacing the dash and rewiring the shifter cable and all of that so i opted to try a 2004 expedition console. It was also by far the cheapest option seeing as i got everything i needed shipped to my door for $125. Thats including the console from ebay and a trip to home depot. This was actualy a very easy install, and i am by no means handy(wont even try to install an AS). I still have alittle bit of cleanup and whatnot to do put figured i would put these pics up anyways...

Sorry for the mess but heres what it looks like after you remove the center jumpseat

You do need to do some modding to make the console lineup with the dash. I just look my jigsaw to it and sanded it at the end just pulling it in and out of the truck till it lined up nicely. this is what it looks with just alittle bit of cutting.

Sounds bad but really didnt need to do any measuring for anything as most things arnt visabile just in the way of installing to the dash. Next i removed the back part of the console where there are the airconditioning controls and audio stuff for the expedition. I pulled those out and epoxyed on a black piece of automotive plastic.

Still have some cleanup to do with the extra epoxy but heres what it currently looks like.

I still have alittle bit more work to get it perfect, but so far the pictures just do not do it justice it looks 100x better than the jump seat. And the color matches EXACTLY to the interior of the f150.

console is from ebay... i dont have the part number but if you go on ebay and type in expedition console theres usualy a few for sale, some with low starting prices some with high. i waited alittle while to wait for a cheaper one since i didnt know if this would work or not. my truck is a 2004. i didnt work straight through but i would say total maybe 3 hours? it really was an easy install just have to go for it and start cutting away. i say go for it, the task seems much harder than it really is once you start on it you will see just how easy it is!

That's awesome. I was lucky and got a grey xlt console off ebay but wondered if doing the expy console would work. Looks great! Good job!

its not too much, its mostly shaping it where the console hits the dash. Maybe an inch or so in some areas. the only part that i really had to cut off was that one black part of the inside frame(those pics are above) because it was in the way of the dash.

It looks good and it is a perfect color match. You might need to get a L shaped trim to hide the imperfection of the cut. Getting it to fit perfectly will be a challenge.

Hey ATHILL, but dont you lose the back cup holders for the back passengers as well when you switch the center consoles?

If that would fit flush against the dash pieces and had some darker tan to tie it all together it would be bad ***. I wish they had a console like that instead of the regular XLT console.
