Q for Copeland: slide switch- what does it do?

Copeland, I've always been curious about a switch box like that. My past 3 trucks I've always gone for straight switch boxes, sometimes with momentary's, but same deal, just single switch for it along with the rest standard switches.

Are you able to control 9 diff. functions with that box? I don't get how the slide switch works, especially since it is always in one of the 3 positions, yet nothing is "on". Switches are easy, hook up Right Alley to swicth 1, on or off. Hook up TakeDowns, Rear Flashers, Inbord LED's, Rear center LED's, whatever, on and off.

So what does the slide switch do? Is one position on the slide "off" and the other two for multi-pattern stuff?

For example, if you hit Switch 1 for say 2 Front End LED's, than move the slide to position 2, does it turn on All 6 Front LED's? Move slide back to "off" and just the 2 Front End's keep going again until you shut switch 1 off?

The slide never made sense to me I just never understood what it did. For example, I have every option of my lightbar hooked up to a seperate switch, 12 switches in all. So if I want every function and every LED section lit up at once, I just have all 10 of my switches "on" (since one switch is momentary for flash patterns and one is for Steady TakeDowns). That way I can do any combination of lights I want.

If you could clear up the mystery of the 'slide switch' and how it functions that would be much appreciated, it's bugged me for years. Hehe! Thanks!

PS I love my TouchTek VI, but you cannot run your lights unless the vehicle is powered. So when the 2009's come out I will need to get a different switch box, I miss being able to keep my lights running with the truck shut off and locked, especially with LED's now that take so little juice to run.

like the ideas. keep them coming.

anyone have pics of clean ipod mounting ideas? all the mounts I see aren't slick enough for what I am looking for.

hey GB150, is removing that coin holder as easy as giving it a good tug or do you have to go at it from the back?

You can mount it like I did my old SIRIUS tuner:

can you share the details on how you mounted that? I'm looking for that exact type of thing, except using the coin holder that is to the left of my radio.

First off let me state my absolute love for Whelen Engineering. Best of the best

This is a Whelen Pccs9r (i believe that is the model number) and the slide switch in position 1 (all the way to the left) is "off." The slide system is great for it allows you to flip it to a pursuit mode that will even activate the siren.

Here is what mine will be set up as
1- Standard for "off"
2- Front LEDS
3- Rear
4- Hell breaker pursuit mode

BTW, I think I have seen your setup on elightbars before

You just have to pull it really hard. Just when you think it'll never come out, it it comes out. I also had to use a Dremel on the opening to get the gauge to fit. The only reason I added it was because I already had the gauge and thought it'd looked better than the coin holder. I have the EDGE that has the tranny temp gauge also. Here's a pic of how I use to have it mounted:
