06 F150 Engine noise

Just noticed a noise on my “06 F150 5.4L V8 last night when I changed the oil. With the hood up and the engine running sounds like a slight diesel engine noise….hard to explain, almost like injector noise or chain noise….is this normal? You really cant hear it with the hood closed. I guess I never really noticed it because I never had the engine running with the hood open. Thanks for the help!!

It's probably normal. Some people on here will mention cam phasers, but a little ticking is normal.

my truck is hella noisy

as far as engine noise goes its more ticky than my car is. and the car has dual .650" rated valve springs and a cam thats right at .600" lift so it isnt exactly quiet

Make sure your oil filter has an anti-drainback valve.
