The first filter i bought was unbranded, made in Taiwan. It came with clips. I took one look at the poor construction on the exterior and figured what was inside was probably worse. Threw it away and went after a Motorcraft. The Motorcraft does not have clips as you are not supposed to need them.

Changed mine today. No Blue clip or orange clip for mine. If you have a Hayne's Manual, it shows about 4 or 5 different clip styles. I used the tool for both lines. The line after the filter actually had a clip on it holding it in place, which I had to take off in order to insert the tool. The bracket holding the filter in is very tight and required a good amount of muscle to pull out, resulting in fuel dumping on me a little bit.

I just got through changing my fuel filter and the fuel on the incoming side was as shown in an earlier photo, filthy! Only thing is I broke the blue clip and some pieces came out of the fuel line. I snapped it back together and turned the key on to prime the pump and I saw no leaks. My filter came with four clips but I couldn't figure out exactly how they worked. I will keep an eye on it for leakage, do you guys think I'll have any problems with the clip being broken?

It must be fuel filter changing day. I too change the filter in my 06 today. It had the orange clip on the rear line. I took the advise of a previous post and was able to remove the line with just the fuel line tool. I was also able to move the safety clip on the front line out of the way without having to unclip it. The truck has 33k miles and the fuel was a little off color, but not as bad some of the earlier post.

I just changed mine a few days ago at 15,000 miles and it was perfectly clean. I'm going to wait 20,000 miles next time. I also did not have any clips other than a metal clip on the nearest end to the motor of the filter.
