Solid 19 mpg
Ive gotten as high as 19.9 one leg of a trip, and overall on that trip i got 19.3
I was pressured for time, so that i think i was averaging around 75 most of the time, with some county back roads two lane passing situations.

I will be taking my first long highway trip when I leave work today and I am curious to see what I get for mileage with E85. I ran my truck on regular when I bought it last fall and the best i saw was around 14-15 driving to work which is short highway runs with a few stops and some city. I lost a couple mpg with E85 but the last 3 times I filled up it was 60-65 cents per gallon cheaper!!! I strongly encourage the use of E85 whenever possible. It's a nice way to say go #@$% yourslef to the midleast.
'05 Screw, 4.6L.. after putting on the cat-back I get about 18.4 - 18.6 highway. That's at mostly 80 mph and not hauling or towing anything. My city mpg is about 12 as near as I can figure. I'm fine with my highway mpg, the city I don't care about, I knew this thing would gulp fuel when I bought it.
since i got my toyos and wheels I'm lucky to get out of the 11s around town and pulling a small bass boat 1 or 2 times a tank (Maybe 60 miles of boat towing). I'm having trouble getting 300 miles out of a tank

I got that in a 5.4 SCrew with 3.73 gears, 2 adults, 1 kid and 500lbs in the bed going 75 mph through Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. Got 21 mpg a few times to be exact.oh yeah, I also got 14 mpg yesterday towing 5000 lbs (car + trailer) 200 miles. Was pleasantly surprised

E85 far from blows.... It's actually every high hp street racers dream... Its 105 octane. Guys get 1000rwhp on pump e85... It IS the fuel of the future.
I would definitely buy E85 if it were offered in my "home range." Since it is around 20% less efficient than dino fuel, however, I would need to pay at least 20% less per gal at the pump. Here in lies the rub. Can fuel retailers deliver this great product to all areas of the country and still maintain the price per gal savings over dino fuel?
I have 670 miles on my 4.6L screw so I can't contribute yet on the what I am truly going to get. My first tank that I measured was about 15.5 breaking it in.
My goal is 17 City, 21 Highway with an overall of 20 (70% highway).
My plan of attack:
Immediate:
- 65 on the highway.
- Do not exceed 1.75 kRPM while excellerate
- Synthetic Oil
Near future:
- K&N air filter
- Redline Synthetic on the front bearing and differential
Near distant future (depending on stock performance):
- Exhuast change (not sure if CAT back Si/So or just muffler)
- Headers

I'm getting 16.8 to 17.5 depending on the wind. I drive 60 miles round trip to work and back. 5.4L FX4 with 3.73, i have to keep it around 60 as I work on base and a ticket will really get me in trouble, but off base on the interstate i'll see my average go down to 15.5 to low 16 doin around 70-75 mph. I've got the edge, and that's what i'm goin off of, it could be off a little tho. So I could see 20 possible, i've gotten the average to 18 before, but i really had to drive like a grandpa....
