Talking Go ahead and laugh it up

I FOUND THE RATTLE (actually it wasnt me)

so yesterday i was 100% determined to find this damn rattle. the plan was to completely gut the interior as far as i could to get the rattle gone, then put each piece back in piece by until the rattle came back that way i knew which piece it was and i could fix it

interior of the truck started like this

and after about 30-45 minutes i had it down to this

great now the rattle is gone and i can find which piece it is

or so i thought

30 seconds of driving and the ****ING THING IS STILL THERE DAMNIT!!!

so i get my roommate to ride with me and in first 10 seconds
"dude its coming from the rear view"

WTF?.?.?.?.

apparently the light sensor for the auto headlights (i think thats what it is) is clipped to the back of the rear view, not even visible from the drivers seat, and it had come unclipped and was rattling against the glass and the sound was bouncing off the glass down making it hard to find from the drivers seat.

so about a week of torture and god knows how many times i torn the interior apart and it literally took me 1 second to clip that little bastard back on.

LOL well if you never have to take your interior off you shouldn't have a problem. Hey atleast it was an easy fix and nothing major.

Haha, that sucks.

Kinda reminds me of a very annoying rattle I had in my last pickup. Could never figure out wtf it was till I somehow found 3 pennys under the carpet one day

The day I took my '07 home I noticed a pretty crappy sounding rattle coming from the rear seat area. I stopped a few times to make sure there was nothing under or behind the rear seat or loose under the front seat. I played with the seatbelt as I drove. I got out to make sure there was nothing inside the bed. I checked that the rear slider was latched. I was pulling my hair out.

Due to the direction it was coming from it sounded like something was loose inside the rear driver's side door. That's when I finally noticed the dealer had tossed the trailer brake wiring kit inside the left rear door storage pocket

I chased a rattle/pinging noise for about a month in my previous Ram quad cab. I would remove parts of the dash and drive. I would slap and punch all over the place trying to find where it was coming from. No matter where I concentrated on listening as I drove, it seemed to come from somewhere else.

Finally one night my youngest son was complaining in the back seat about being cold. I told him to pick up my work jacket off the floor and use it like a blanket. The noise stopped. It was the damn zipper on the jacket, which I always kept in the truck.

Just like a woman. Make a little noise and get gifts in return.

LOL well i bet you know a lot more about the interior makeup of the truck now

PS: if your truck (or you) doesnt like rattles, do not put bass in it. you will be rattling like crazy, trust me. my truck cries when all 2000 watts are going. :o

Well you had it that far apart you should have just taken the seats out and threw down some sound deadening on the floor.
