Glad you finally found it .. I had a similiar incident with my 99 F150 a few years back.

As far as the light sensor for the headlights, I thought that was on the driver's side dashboard up close by the windshield .. I often put my hats up there when I'm driving and sometimes accidentally turn on the headlights. Mine is an '05 if that makes any difference, more just out of curiosity than anything..

I think I have two noises, but I haven't heard either lately (now that I think of it)...One comes from the rearview area, and I think it's a squeak from the rubberrized wire look rubbing against itslef where it is kinked. I put some wd-40 on my fingers and then smeared it on the tubing. The other is quieted by putting a firm pressure on the passenger a-pillar hand grab, but I haven't noticed it lately. I also had one from my radio bezel, but I fixed it by finally figuring out how the clips work so it fastens securely again. I thought one of the clips was broken when I removed it, but I was just not putting it back together like the factory does it. They must put the metal clips onto the bezel, and snap them in. I pulled the metal clips off the dash, and stuck them to the bezel first, and then everything is super snug.
