I was contemplating between 4.10 and 4.56 gears for when I install 35's, but according to this chart, I should probably be deciding between 4.56 and 4.88 gears.

The chart is based on RPM at 65MPH in a 1:1 transmission drive gear.

Is anyone running 4.56 or 4.88 gears w/ 35" tires? I'm not too concerned about gas mileage.

 

I prevously ran 4.56 gears with a 31" tall tire. So 4.56s on 35s would only be icing to the cake.

im running 4.56's with 38" tires and its perfect to me.

I wonder any one making 4.30 gears ? i think its perfect set up 33-35"

I looked and couldnt find any 4.30s. If they had them I would make that one of my next mods.

 

4.56's and 35's here. Couldn't find 4.30's either but now I'm glad I didn't. 75mph I'm running a hair over 2,250rpm. Check out the chart on www.grimmjeeper.com you can find the 4R75E trans and mix and match gears/tires etc. to compare at different rpms' etc.

 

That's what I'm thinking. Engine RPM @ 2,250 in overdrive at 75MPH isn't bad at all. That's why I'm thinking about going with 4.88 instead. Plus, less than 10% of my driving is on the freeway, so I'm not really too worried about high RPM's.

 

i think 4.88 is toooo much for 35's.

 

Jessem... if you had to replace your gears, would you step up to 4.88 or stay with 4.56?

I'm kind of a ***** for low end power!

 

Phatsea, what are your RPM's at highway speeds with the 38's and 4.56's?

According to the Superlift chart (1:1 @ 65MPH) and the speed/RPM numbers that BlackDawg posted: I calculate that with 35's and 4.88's your RPM's would be around 2,400 @ 75MPH in overdrive. That doesn't seem too high to me at all. Plus, it's still in the suggested range of the Superlift chart for the proper gear ratio for that size tire... it's on the high end, but it is in the recommended range.

Hell, I had a 5-seed Level 2 FX4 Ranger with 4.10's and 31's from the factory and it ran over 3,000RPM in overdrive at 70MPH.

 

For 35's I think that you should go with 4.56's the 4.88's IMO are more for 37's and up. Go with the 35's I think you'll be glad that you did.
