Exclamation Seat Lift issue

I just installed the LMI Seat Lift but have a problem. I can't get the back rest to latch at the top. The seat back just falls forward. The bottom of the seat back is latched to the seat bottom. Has anybody had this problem or did I mess something up? The instructions really don't say anything about putting the seat back rest back on.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have pushed down on the seat back. The frame is all the way down on the seat bottom but the "clips" still won't line up.

You have to put the clips in the holes then push back and down at the same time. What did you put the seat lift in for? A system?

Going to add a sub box soon and the seat is a little more comfortable. I can't even get the clips to lgo anywhere near the three slots on the back. The backrest frame catches the bottom.

I bet you did what I did and mounted the seat cross bar on top of the seat lift brackets. It should go back on the floor like before.

At first I had the mid bracket on top of the seat lift. Put it in right and the bottom is good. Just can't get the back rest to lock in the clips at the top. They are about 1 inch from the top.

This is the clip on the back of the seat. The clip will not go down into the hole where it attaches on the back of the cab. It is too high and the seat back is as far down as I can get it. The seat back rest frame is already locked into the seat cushion.

So did you end up making a bracket to mount the top too? Didn't think about that. I reached back behind the seat and the seat back is all the way down in the hooks on the back of the seat cushion and the middle ones feel like they are up just a bit.

Could you take a pic of that rusty cross bar that the seat back sits in?

I made the bracket using 2 peices of angle aluminum and it works surpisingly well.

I have to say your truck is one of the only trucks I actually like that flame grill on. Looks pretty damn sharp!

Thanks Impact. Here is the frame on the reat seat. Still deciding on what to do about the seat back not latching. Either pull the seat lift out or do the aluminum like you did.

yea you mounted it wrong, just like me. I think that bar needs to be under the brackets not on top. LMI instructions are horrible that's why we both ended up at the same spot.

I'd suggest leaving it and making a bracket like I did. That way you can use the extra 2" of space behind the seat for your amps. I'd also suggest putting zip ties on the little plastic catches. Save a ton of time taking out the seat back.

Been sitting here reading the directions. I'm more confused than ever LOL. I don't see how this could go in any other way.

lol join the club!

I've read that only the seat bottom is suppose to be lifted not the seat back. Otherwise LMI would have to give brackets like I made.

The seat bracket bar is suppsed to stay on the floor and the black brackets are supposed to be installed on top of the bar. The seat back is not supposed to be moved at all with the LMI kit. The seat bottom comes up and out.
