I still am tellin' you guys... there's not gonna be an equal replacement to a stock Lightning until Ford developes a better drivetrain to allow better numbers to those rear wheels. And from my current understanding, it don't look like it's gonna happen for a lonnnnnng time.

Sorry to bring it to reality... but it really is the sad truth. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to deflate Ford... I love Ford... but they HAVE the money to develope a much better drive system. Especially since they have the engineers too.

I know you will all agree with me on this one.

no not everyone is going to agree with you on that one.
a lot of people including me have high hopes for a BOSS engine in 2009, who knows what else they could upgrade with that.

Even if they put a huge BOSS engine into it... that isn't my point. My point is not Powertrain, I'm talking drivetrain. As in transmissions and differentials. Even if you throw a huge engine into it, it will still suffer from lots of drivetrain loss especially if they keep the current one and just throw a BOSS engine into it. Which will only mean lots more power being wasted.

They can, with the engineering possible today, Ford can acheive a heavy duty transmission and rear end combination that will result in only 5% drivetrain loss MAX.

I can't understand why no one would want this... hence, that is why I said, everyone is going to agree with me on this. If you want a big BOSS engine at 500 hp, and still get only 300 hp to the rear wheels, then I would see where you'd disagree with me. However, you'd agree with me if you wanted the BOSS engine to put out 450 hp to the rear wheels. You guys are just confussssing!

Saw one in person!

The MSRP of the one I saw in the showroom was 56k + change.. A little rich for me to pay for a truck. I do a lot of dirt road driving, I'd feel too guilty to drive it.

So, whatever happened to the Adrenaline? Wasn't it supposed to be better than the Lightning? Or did that never get off the prototype stage?

Good question, about the Adrenaline.

Personally, I feel as if Ford should just possibly remarket the older Lightning, using the original chassis, engine, and layout... but just do a face lift. This way they don't have to worry about going crazy designing a 600 hp engine and losing 200 hp in the drive train.

I'm pretty sure we're going to be getting a 5 or 6 speed transmission in 09. Just like the Expedition with the 5.4L/6 speed with less hp is faster and tows better than the Suburban with the 6.0L Regardless, a 5% drivetrain loss is a dream of yours that is never going to be achieved when it comes to a 6,000# half ton truck.

I'm pretty sure it was a SVT program and when SVT went down the pipes so did the Adrenaline. .

Those Lightnings, with a 4R100 and Sterling diff, have the same ~25-30% driveline losses as everyone else. The difference was as stated - lower weight, lots of grunt.

Read that link I posted - it's in there...

Lower losses are possible - the Titan, fr'instance has approx ~15%...? Or, put in a stick LOL!

I didn't buy the 07 HD AWD to drag race but this week I took it for a 300 mile trip and it was so nice I just could not beleive how fantastic the ride was. Everything was perfect, radio, Nav, seats, air, controls, more looks & up than I got with my lightning.

I am going to put a Whipple (ordered it through Ford racing for 500.00 cheaper than direct) on it just for fun. But I am glad it weighs more, the truck is so smooth, strong and stable. One ride and I am in love. (Wifes truck so it was my first drive).

I saw all of these at Saleen Troy plant last friday, it was incredible seeing the assembly line of blowers being installed. There were 750 trucks there and 400 plus were already blown!!!

I have pics for you guys

Also JDM has already tested and developed a Air kit, Pulley, and tune for these trucks that will add over 60 RWHP!!! Stock Id expect about 350 RWHP with these trucks, ive driven one and its nice, still a little bit piggy but at 4.5 psi boost you cant expect much. Its got very good potential however and we can make about 450 RWHP with 10 psi and exhaust, we have already done this with the Saleen S331 trucks.

oh yea, thats fine too we are pushing 471 RWHP with our stock shortblock, and look at the tons of guys here pushing about the same. This truck stated is 450 crank HP which is a walk in the park as long as you use 91 min octane.
