2006 XLT S-Crew ?

A buddy of mine at work is looking at a 06 F150 XLT S-Crew with the 5.4. Did Ford ever fix the plug blow out problem with this engine ? Thanks

Fixed? More like over compensated.

The issue with the three valve 5.4 is NOT being able to get th eplug out without removing the head because they are so tight they snap.

Kind of stole my thunder. Yeah the 5.4 3v doesn't spit plugs like the 2v heads did. Instead, they sieze in the head and snap when you try to remove them. A simple procedure of getting the engine warm, pulling the COP off, clearing the bore (blowing it out), backing the plug a quarter turn more or less, then soaking them in penetrating oil...

Once the penetrating oil has been allowed to soak in, THEN back the plugs out nice and easy, don't apply too much pressure....
