Exclamation Edge Tow Mode Question?

hey people, i know the edge says you can run 87+ octane on tow mode, but what is better to run? And if i run a higher octane can i up the timing and say if i run 89 what timing or 91 what timing? And will it even help to run a higher octane?

What are you gonna tow weazel? I believe running higher octane will help you out as well.

for every 2 octane points adjust timing by 1. eg. 89=+1, 91=+2, 93=+3

maybe you heard .5 for every 1 octane point which is the same as 1 for every 2 if that makes any sense

well i dont know about where you live but here there is no 88 or 90 so you will never haveto increse timing by .5s.... so yes 91 would be +2

I dont think ive ever adjusted timing with diff. octanes! is that bad? I run 90 octane in lvl 3 (thats the highest we've got around here). I didnt find the tow mode that great when I was hauling 65 Railroad ties across the panhandle (this was w/ 87 oct) to me it pulled just the same as stock, or thats how it felt, IMO. Im going to have to back way off (maybe to stock) with premium gas costing 3.40 around here!

Not when I was hauling the RR ties, they where heavy as Ill get out. I have pulled the flatbed with some topsoil on it in 3, nothing bad happend that I can see, the gas mileage hit the floor though (less than 10 MPG), and the truck didnt seem to like it that much, but it got the work done. If i was you, I would try lvl 2, especially if you are going a long distance, at least then the MPG might stay about 12 then

Your sitting lifted though right? I average 15-17 with lvl 3 and it was 10-12 with lvl 2 and a load. I bet after the rize and 37's ill be at about 10 mpg, Im hoping though that the 4.88's will help out.
