FX4 or XLT

Well....Its the time to get a new truck again. ( Yes i lease). Should i spend a little more money and get an FX4 Screw, or should i go with a Screw XLT and save a little bit? Tough choice, need your guys's expert opinions.

There is basically nothing more than appearance differences so I would suggest getting whichever you like the looks of better.

If you're leasing, you don't have to worry about demand at resale either so it's a wash.

XLT + buy skid plates + install nice shocks = Same thing as an FX4 minus some eye candy (for the most part). (that is unless you're going to get the luxury package)

I think the interiors on the FX4's are just so much nicer than the XLT's that I would be willing to pay more similarly equipped trucks. However, if you're not really into the appearance of the interior all that much, save the coin and get an XLT.........

Funny, some of us like the XLT interior better than the FX4. Not that the FX4 is bad or anything, but I have never seen, nor heard of them being available with the split bench up front, and sometimes you just need that extra seat...

Oh, and my XLT has the optional skid plates.

I like the black interior so that's why I got an FX4. I'd like to do a console swap with someone and put in a bench seat.

Getting the leather interior, floor shifter, and nicer gauges is worth it IMO. Takes the truck from bland, to bad *** in .1 secs flat!

FX4 FTW...the XLT is nice, but it just needs a little something extra...I love my Lux FX4, and will probably buy another one in 2009/2010 if I don't go 3/4 or 1 ton.

And I'm just the opposite -- the only reason I got an XLT is because I didn't want a 4x4, but I soon removed the center jump seat and replaced it with a center console. Being that it's a regular cab truck, I can only take one passenger with me on a trip, but for how I use the truck that's fine.......

There's only one problem with one of the statements made above-you CANNOT get a floor-mounted TC shifter with the FX4. So, if you do a lot of off-roading and worry about the ESOF failing, get the XLT. I have to say, that sticker on the truck (FX4) really adds to the appearance. And if you want appearance-I wouldn't put an FX4 sticker on an XLT truck, it just wouldn't feel right. It's like, you would still know and there's no reason to try to convince yourself.

And, you CAN get a front bench seat with a new FX4-go to the Ford website and see. You cannot get leather with it though.

Depends on what you like. I love the FX4 with the floor shifter and the carbon fiber look. Skid plates were pointless for me because they came right off with the lift kit and if you need a skid plate I've got a couple sitting around here. Not sure if the XLT has the same bumper color as body but that was a selling point as well. I was only looking for FX4's when I bought but again it's a preference, just go look at them both and once you see the interiors you'll decide pretty quick I bet. Oh yeah, the gauges are a lot cooler on the FX as well.
