Get the FX4 with the luxury package! The big differnce on the appearance is the fender flares. That's why the FX4 and the Lariat look so much better. The rest of the trucks (XL, STX, XLT, & FX2) look to plain with out them IMO.

Though I have a 2wd XLT, it is plenty of truck for me.

x2 - I traded a totally loaded Lariat for the FX4... I just like it better.

Hopefully dealer would have a good selection so you can get the 3.73LS rear while your at it..

Again, check the Ford website. Just so you're not confused. I don't know if you can order it, or if you could once order it, but a new FX4 isn't available with the floor shifter. I don't see why the dealers couldn't have it special ordered though since you can get the bench seat in the FX4.

I think they were refering to the console gear shifter as the floor shift. However ford refers to the manual transfer case shifter as the floor shifter. So in that case the floor shifter isn't available in a FX4 but the console gear shifter is.Confused yet?

that does look nice, but a painted bumper would finish her off nicely.

a little note though about those painted bumpers. my white bumper looks like I drove through a tar patch. I lost some paint this winter from the crap on the roads. The paint is black underneath. This could be an issue for you when the lease runs out. They'll probably try to nail you on it.

oh well, the Painted bumpers still look the best IMO

Do you even need to ask? FX4, without a doubt!

Actually the paint scheme on your truck is another reason for the XLT. Classier paint choices. Not saying that the FX is bad, but the XLT has a more luxurious look to me with the paint schemes and Chrome...

And yes, what folks are talking about here as a floor shifter isn't really a floor shifter, but a console shifter for the transmission. No current F150 has a true floor shifter for the transmission. And the floor shifter that Ford is talking about is what I have on my XLT, and another reason I passed on the FX4. Transfer case floor shifter. Some of us don't like the dashboard controls for the t-case.

The FX does have MUCH nicer guages though, the nicer H bar grille, and pretty much useless fender flares. I see a LOT of FX4s with Bushwacker Pocket flares, so I guess the factory flares are kind of pointless.

I guess it really depends on what you need out of your truck. They are both about equally as nice, one is just sportier, the other a bit more old school in its approach. Both kick butt.

I bought an XLT, not an STX, or an FX4, because it had the look, and features I wanted. What you want may differ radically... Buy and drive what makes you happiest. Or in your case, lease.

Thanks gusy for all of your opinions. I will probably go with the FX4. I do like the look a little better. Does anyone here lease a new FX4 and know what the price would be a month. I get the A-plan so if anyone knows that would be sweet. I was thinking around 300-400. Thanks again guys. You guys are the greatest.

Wow, that's what I am paying to OWN my XLT... Seems kinda high to me since you have to give it back when you are done... Do you have your own company or something where leasing is a tax write off?

I like the chrome bumpers on the XLT's, not sure this is an option on FX4's? Heck until this post I didn't know a floor shifter was an option???? I looked at 3 or 4 dealers when I bought mine and every 4x4 had the dash switch for the T-case....wish I knew about the floor shift before I bought

I bought my XLT because it was all I needed. Lease what you need, if that's an XLT great, if it's an FX4 great. In the end it really doesn't matter because it's going right back to Ford because you aren't buying it.
