Josiah's Push Button Ignition Pics***

Project is complete and I couldn't be happier. I am very happy with the install, I took my time and made it an extra clean install like usual.

Looks good Josiah. Guess my post in the other thread was too late. Haha.

Maybe my next mod once I'm done with the Leds. I think that button would look real good in my coin holder. So I assume you have to turn the key to the on position then push the button?

I'm a little confused here... Why put a push button start in when you still have that key in the ignition?

That's what I was wondering. The point of a push-button ignition is to make starting the vehicle easier. You still have to insert and turn a key then push a button, which is actually more complicated than just using the key.

I put it in because I wanted to make the interior somewhat unique. There are no upsides to this. And now me and my passengers glow red at night.

cool stuff.
some cars coming with those now still make you put the key in.
the new altimas have this stuff tho that automatically sense the key so you dont have to put it in.

Classic post. . arn't there any Fusion sites you can go and bother them?

I always see you posting on threads where people are bashing something that you believe in and you say "it's your truck so do whatever you want" I'm pretty sure that applies here. . Grow up.

Yup, our '07 Camry has it as well.

Allthough, with Nissan, it still looks like a key that you turn (it just doesn't come out) I think.
With Toyota, it's an actual start/run pushbutton. You can kind of see it here: http://www.toyotanation.com/photos/s...o/6117/cat/896
And even better here: http://www.toyotanation.com/photos/s...o/6133/cat/896

I actually ripped apart the wiring in my old Focus so that the key no longer worked except for the securilock part. I then added a PB under the dash for starting. Then I always left the key in the ignition.

Josiah, can you still use your key to start the truck?

I installed one of these several years ago on my BMW. And I made it so I could start the car normally (turning the key), or I could just put the key in and hit the button. Like you said, its just one of those things that's fun and different.

the same line of thinking applies to say, lifting or lowering your truck. do you need it? for 99% of the owners on here, no but it does look cool.

Incorrect. On the Altima (direct competitor for Camry and Accord) it has an orange illuminated push button and does not look like a key. The ones that look like a key are the Murano, Maxima, and one other that I forgot right now.

On the new camry the car senses the key fob is inside the vehicle and all you have to do is hit the button on the dash.

Another nice push button is from the BMW Z8 - its a sexy button. Brushed silver border with a black rubber button. Looks nice a clean - just another option for anyone considering this:

Just a random pic I found to give you an idea:
