Truck is back from the shop

Just had my rear end replaced for the third time. This will be its 4th set of gears.

Seems to me like the ring and pinion get screwed up and the metal shavings kill the bearings.

Comes with 12k warranty. The first two times were free but his one cost me 1600 bucks.

We'll see how it goes, but I think I can predict the future of this issue.

Man, I am sorry. I had a vibe when I first got my 05 and a driveshaft change and new rearend clkutchpacks fixed it.

$200 for an axle in the junkyard. 50% vs. 50% on the right gears...90% you'll pick the wrong one.

screw paying $1600 for an axle

No No. I didnt pay 1600 for a new axle. I payed 1600 for ring, pinion, bearings, fluid and all that. No, getting a new axle would have been much more.

masterd, I hate to see you screwed over like that you should try car-parts.com. I've used it so often, they are used OEM takeoffs, kinda like a modern day junk yard.

Subtract 340 or so for other misc maintenance items.

And 74 for the rental car (they paid 94).

It looks a little better. Dont worry Im sure Ill make up for it when they cover it under the 12k warranty because I know itll break again.

Maybe you should consider getting someone else to set the axle up for you. One bad set of gears, okay, I can buy that. Three? Either you're beating the hell out of your truck, you've had a really bad run of ring and pinions, or whoever's setting them up for you doesn't have any idea WTF they're doing.
