Im sorry to burst yall 4.6 advocates' bubbles , but I have a 4.6, that thing will not hit a dead dog in the a$$. The 5.4 will walk all over it stock, and you have to put at least 1200-1500 dollars into a 4.6 to get it up to the level of a stock 5.4. I love the engine, its reliable and gets 18mpg all day long, but its just never going to be a powerhouse

Well Guys, I didn't mean to get everyone all fired up on this thread. This just proves that people are passionate about thier trucks. And yes I wish I had a 5.4. I am debating whether to get one or not. The reason I test drove one was because I wanted to see the power difference and I didn't notice any. Maybe its just me because I don't notice much difference on my truck with my edge tuner compared to stock either.

I'm not sure either but I was considering marking it as a 'favorite' just for those nights that I'm wasted and need a good laugh. I think I'll come back to it later tonight!

Sure, you can drop that dough on the 4.6, but why bother???

In the real world, outside of X-Box, PSIII, etc... more CIs produce more power. If you have the 4.6 and the 5.4 in the equally equipped trucks, the 4.6 will get spanked. There is no "Well I know what my truck can do" BS. You aren't even going to get close when it they are carrying loads. The 5.4 will walk all over it.

Is the 4.6 a good motor? Of course. But it's only good in cars and regular cab trucks. The 5.4 is the best way to go in any truck until Ford ups the CI in the next generation of engines.

That's why Ford is going to the 5.0, 6.?, and so on. The 4.6 is not worth the effort.

sorry that i have people willing to help out with the install for free considering we are all pretty close friends and work on each others cars. just like we pulled the wiring harness out of chris's (one of the people helping) supra and got rid of the unused wires, and fixed a bad wire. we dont charge each other for the help.

and i belive my 4.6 is a scab and like i said it has pulled the 5.4 extended cab in the drive way more than once.

I missed this but what are you talking about? GT40 turbo? Do you realize the GT40 hasn't been built in a while. Besides, I don't think it was turbo'd either considering this was the 60s but I could be wrong. . . and if you're talking about the Ford GT that was recently built, its a 5.4L thats supercharged.

The truck in your sig is not a scab. It's a regular cab.

Are you referring to another truck?

no idiot a gt-40 turbo is a 61mm turbo. i was orginally going to go with a t-67 however i herd the gt-40 was able to make the same power for less money, and be more reliable.

the truck in my sig is a single cab 2004 f150 stx, the other truck in my drive way that it raced was a 2003 5.4 heritage edition extended cab f150.

I'm the idiot? . . you're the one saying your 4.slowL is faster than a 5.4L!! Classic. I know that the GT40 is a type of turbo but since you didn't just say Garett 40, I wasn't sure. Congratulations, you know that its a 61mm turbo! 61x80mm to be exact. The T-67 can support up to 800 chp while the Garett 40 can only go up to 650 chp on a good day. . not to mention the price difference is like $200.
