bam, if you're thinking of 'upgrading' to the AC system I have, save your money. It can't be any better than what you have, trust me.

But now that you all mention it, I might just have them check it at the dealer to make sure it's charged up all the way.

Haven't a clue. I plan on finding out though if/when I ever have to replace my evaporator.

Mine too...I added a can of freon and it has been ice cold ever since. I think that would fix 99% of the complaints in this thread.

I was exactly a can low too, cost cutting measures at its finest! I don't think we need any upgraded A/C components, just the right amount of freon!

Don't go indiscriminately adding refrigerant...an overcharged system won't cool any better than an undercharged one.

Any way to check refrigerant levels without having to go to the dealer?

I have the right gauges but I don't know what pressures are on the 134 systems

If you have a meat thermometer, put in in/on one of the vents. Should het 55-65 degree air on recirculate.

Had the same problem, first trip to the dealer the system was low on freon. The second time the front seal on the compressor was bad. Since then the AC works real good.

at what outside temp? 55-65 is a large margin for error

I have been plagued by a non functioning AC since I bought my truck last July ..

If I turn the truck off with the AC still on .. it takes two or three times to cycle the switch off, then on to get the compressor to kick back on .. Took it to the dealer in August .. the acknowledged the problem, and were able to recreate it .. they told me ford was aware fo the issue, and would have a fix for it in November/December .. I am still waiting on that fix .. it really sucks, because I can't ever use AUTO, and sometimes I have to sit for 4 or 5 minutes, or shut the truck off and restart it to get the AC to work ..

lots of fun in Houston, I tell ya ..

the supposedly checked the charge, and all the seals, and everything was fine there.

It sucks .. because the AC in my 2006 Five Hundred will freeze you out in about 5 minutes
