No problem, but I still think a PCM update will fix your problem. I've seen very few bad ambient temp sensors over the years.

It's weird that this would just start happening... isn't it? I mean, I've got 33K on the ticker now and have never had a problem up until the past month or so...

I'm just thinking out loud... it seems like if it was a PCM adjustment/flash that would fix it then it would've had this same behavior from the beginning?

Add another one to the bum temperature sensor issue ('05 Lariat SCrew). My temp was off by +30° when driving down the highway. I had the re-flash done and it fixed it for about 6 months, now it's goofy again. Mine seems to be moisture related. I've pulled the sensor and the contacts were clean and dry, so I'm thinking I've got a crack in the housing somewhere.

Mine is dead-on in the winter months. It was reading a balmy 6 degrees F this morning... the summer is when mine acts screwy (and will likely get replaced this coming summer).

www.fastpartsnetwork was where I had originally priced it. Be reminded that FoMoCo used this sensor on everything from the Taurus to the Explorer to the Super Duty (I think). The long and short of it is that you can likely find 10 of these in short order at your local salvage yard.

Mine is also acting screwy. Started a few weeks ago. Consistently reads -40 degrees when it is actually about 35 outside. Taking it in this weekend to get it checked out.

It totally screws with my EATC as well. Causes it to blow full hot all the time! Plus it sucks not knowing what the actual outside temperature is!

Well, so far my temp sensor works ok. I am a weather nut, and I have a fairly involved home weather station. Each one of the monitor locations, can affect real info. My temp sensor for my home system, is fifty yards from my house, and sheltered from wind. It gives good average temps.

I park my truck in my driveway. Sometimes towards the garage, and sometimes toward the road.

I look at my home weather station every morning. When I jump into the truck to go to work, or run errands, I see that the temp reading is always within two degrees, of my fancy, stupid, time consuming, home weather station.

So point is, if you are getting readings, that are erratic, or just don't make good sense, then a trip to a dealer or analyzer is in order.

I dunno where my truck sensor is!

Mine will start out at -40 and then go to ------. Is the sensor bad or are the connections dirty? I do not have the automatic climate control, does anyone know the part number for my sensor. What is the actual name of the sensor? Thanks

That's what mine was doing. Had the sensor tested and it was confirmed bad. So I ordered one from Ford Parts. Just waiting for it to come in now. You should be able to find the part number in this thread somewhere.

Great thread guys. I'm off to the dealership to replace this sensor. I've had enough of my truck reading 140 degrees outside when it is the dead of winter...
