Sluggish Power Steering

My power steering is sluggish. You need more effort to get the wheels to turn. Yes, I checked the tire pressure! I have45k on it (2004 FX4)

Anyone have this?

I had my fluid level look normal but it made some noise anyhow, added some more fluid and it worked fine.

I say waste of money but in wilthis situation it doesnt sound bad. Power steering fluid does lose its viscosity with heat. I bet you could DIY if you really wanted, probly only cost $20

I started it this morning and it seems worse at first, then gets easier as the truck gets warmed up.

mabey one of your lines are semi- clogged. The flush is rape but it might be the way to go.

Steering Problem Resolved

My local garage found the problem. Its the intermediate steering shaft and its a common problem. So common the part is back ordered - and Ford doesn't have a date for when they will possibly get one. Great. Oh yeah, the best part: $700.00Cdn, plus labour.

Only 65K on the truck. Sucks.
