Truck is at dealership for laundry list of warranty work
Being that I'm at about 35,000 miles, I decided to take my truck in for several items to be fixed... Even though I got the Premium ESP, I still thought it would be better to have it fixed under the factory warranty. Here's what it's in for:
They said that their "engine department" is pretty backed up, and it would likely take a week+ to get everything done... I've had the truck in the shop 2 times before for item #4, so I'm not real hopeful that they'll fix it... But I'm thinking that everything else should be fix-able. What do you all think?

1. Start-up rattle. Only occurs when truck is cold-soaked, and only lasts for a couple seconds. Noise is coming from engine area. Refer to TSB 06-18-8 under “START UP RATTLE”.
2. Idle rattle. Occurs when vehicle is at operating temperature, at high idle of approx 800-1000 RPM. Noise goes away above or below this RPM range. Refer to TSB 06-18-8 under “VCT noise”.
3. Stumble on decleration when towing trailer. Only happens when in manual “2” gear, when letting off the accelerator. Truck stumbles/jerks. Refer to TSB 06-16-13.
4. Loud humming noise. Only noticeable first thing in the morning when the truck is cold. Drive it for a very short distance (1/4 mile or less). Noise appears when tuck is in gear (D), fully stopped with foot on brake. Noise goes away after drive-train is warmed up… I’ve had it in for this reason several times in the past. Most recently, you replaced the muffler/tailpipe, but the noise has not gone away.
5. A few weeks ago I brought truck in to have front rotors resurfaced because truck was shaking when applying the brakes. The “brake-shake” is still there. Please do a brake inspection to see what’s causing it. Call me with results of inspection prior to repair (if I will be charged).

im makin a list and checkin it twice myself. got about 1,500 and the factory warrenty is over. but thanks to my 30 plus prior visits to the dealer ship with my repetative problems my free premium care warrenty will be picking it up from there. i too have that start up rattle. i learned one thing from this truck purchase. i will never buy a new vehicle again without buying the best and longest extended warrenty. also wont get a vehicle the first year they come out with a new style. good luck with your trip to the dealer, i know how those can get

I hear ya, mine has a long history too. I love it but hate it. It could of been so much more but I guess it ain't bad. I might pursue this. Thanks for the Reply.
Amazing! I just get a call from my Service Advisor. He says:
"None of the SSM (TSB's) that you brought in pertain to the driveline humming noise." Well yeah, duh, I never intended them for the humming noise. They were to address the startup and idle rattle problems. He says "what startup and idle rattles?". Common, I gave you guys a typed list, look at it for God's sake!!! "Oh, ok, I'll have a tech look at it."
Then he says "we previously applied the fix to your brakes, we don't know what else to do."
Man dealerships are frustrating. I don't think that I've EVER had a good service experience in my life.

I was too late, but I was gonna say: 10 bucks says they shoot you down for all your complaints. I know I would.

Yeah, I guess I can undertand that to be an insult to a competent technician. But it's an insult to me when I take my truck in for a repair, and have them tell me that it's either normal or there's no known fix. Only for me to go home and find a TSB which addresses my concern! If my previous encounters with the dealer had been more favorable, then I'd be more trusting that they could find the problem & solution on their own.
But that's pretty disheartening to hear from a technician (Quintin) that he would purposefully NOT fix a problem simply because a customer was doing his best to make sure that a problem was fixed as best as possible. In fact, I'm getting pissed just writing this!
I'm not saying that I don't agree with you but also the fact that you waited until the warranty was almost up does **** off the service department. I understand the situation though, trust me. My last truck was more than a headache.
Best of luck to you.
Best of luck to you.

That and I'm suspect of most people who show up just before their warranty runs out with a lot of complaints. The warranty close to expiring tends to bring the hypochondriac out in people, folks who swear up and down that they've got problems that need to be fixed when a lot of times, their vehicles are just fine. I don't get paid to chase bunk complaints - not saying that yours aren't legitimate, just that getting jacked around by crazy customers with nothing better to do than grace my doorstep with a grocery list of complaints at 35,999 miles has soured my attitude towards last call warranty repairs.

People train in their respective fields so that they know how to do their job, and a few people know how to do it very well; it's kind of an insult to have an "outsider" (for lack of a better term) come in and make demands or suggestions of how to get things done. That's part of the reason I wish TSBs weren't available to the general public.

What I am trying to say is that I've seen too many customers with BS complaints come strolling in, demanding a repair - often times via a TSB - for a concern that isn't broke just because the bulletin says so and/or they're near to an expired warranty. This attitude by the majority (probably 70% or better) of customers I deal with has soured my attitude towards last minute warranty repairs for all customers.

Period. I am by no means condoning brushing a customer off with a legitimate complaint under warranty. I did not necessarily say your concerns were not legitimate, and if I came off that way, I apologize.
