Sounds different than mine then , as yours is isolated to one cyl., and I'm not having it at idle. Hope you (and I) get a resolution soon.

dam i just saw your other post...

on the bright side, if you do have to tear down, then at least you might have an excuse to beef up that bottom end

either way keep us posted...

Ehhh, I really can't afford to do anything to the bottom end right now. MT seems to think this problem stemed from the injector hanging open on me last year. It hung open on bank 1 cylinder 3, and plugged up that cat real quick. He said that the opposing bank would be getting more air than it should and run really lean because of the clogged cat on the opposite side. Then you have 4 really lean cylinders on the left bank (bank 2) and the front most cylinder he said is seen to run the leanest for some reason. I'll bet the upper ring land was damaged when this happened and it has progrogressively been eating the wall of the cylinder until enough damage was done to cause blow by, therefor oil-fouling the plug out and creating a complete misfire. The problem is, the injector was repaired under warranty at around 23-24K and now this happens just out of warranty. I'm going to do some talking and see what I can come up with because I think this all stems from that original problem. I don't mind repairing it myself because of the supercharger, but the injector problem has been a known issue supercharged or not, and I really believe that's where this started and in turn would have nothing to do with the S/C being there in the first place.

Sorry I'm late to the party, I lost power for a while from some storms in the area (that also beat the hell out of my f'kin' truck with hail...but that's another thread).

Did you check compression on the scored cylinder? I'm not saying it's the official thing to do, but your dealer could try to get you an AWA (after warranty adjustment), try filing it as "related damages" from a past failure.

That sucks pretty bad. Damn fords!@!

I'm with smokin on this one.. If you're gonna have to tear it down.. might as well put a set of manley pistons and h-beams in there.. What's that? about $1100-$1300... Just a guess..

well like i said, hopefully you wont have to go through a tear down at all. its definately worth a shot to try to get the dealer to fix it...

but... if you do have to, i think you'd be crazy not to drop in at least some rods and pistons. i know they arent cheap, but if it were me, I'd find a way to afford it

i saw these on ebay a while back, and was wondering if they would fit in our motors...

A little update......I never did check compression because I don't have the adapter but at this point, it's gonna be way low from the looks of it. Good news is, I have a buddy that is the service manager at a local dealer and since I DO have premium care warranty til 4/75K, he said I'm good to go blower or no blower (AKA: What blower?) So I gotta get it buttoned up and flatbedded over there first of next week.

Wow, this is were the extended warranty comes in handy. Do you still have stock injectors in there.

There has to be an alternative to these shyttie stock injectors which seem to be cause major engine failures. Is Ford even doing anything about this known issue except letting their faithful customers eat the bill? What a joke.

Injectors are not a new thing here, they've been in widespread use for two decades, so whats the problem? I just dont understand why Ford is having problems now with injectors, maybe they found a cheap supplier(likely).

I am having issues with what appears like a hanging injector, problem is that it is so hard to document and troubleshoot which injector is having the issues and then convincing the Ford Stealerships, which for the most part are clueless. Because the dealership refuses to do anything, I guess I am forced to by aftermarket injectors and replace them all. Any stock rating aftermarket injectors out there? Its really a lose lose situation.

I do have replacement injectors as of the intercooler install... Roush sent out some higher flow ones and as far as I know they don't have the problems like the other ones do. What kind of problems is your truck having? I can tell you exactly what mine did. First sign of a problem was a good while ago, sometime at the end of 05' at lowes motor speedway. I was there with my dad going to the carshow and when we were looking for a spot the thing was idling pretty rough. Then I come out to start it and it cranks and then BAM the engine stops. I attempt to crank a few more times and I get click click click, then it cranks and fires and lots of fuel smoke comming out the tailpipe. I drive to a gas station, flash the computer back to stock (had a tuner) and drove it home with it running like crap and then about 10 miles later it clears up and the problem went away for like 6 months. Then on the way back from the beach in may of 06', pulling a trailer w/ 2 bikes, about 3/4 of the way home at around 11pm, cruise on, dvd player going, me and my bud chillin.....the exhaust note changes, you can hear a putt putt putt in the exhaust (missing) and the CEL is blinking. It shuts off about 2-3 cylinders and I limped it home and pulled it in the driveway, cat cherry red, and the next day I pulled the injector out on cylinder 3 and it was hung wide open. Replaced it and ended up having to get the cat replaced because I had NO flow out of the right bank. This is all what is to believed to be the cause of the opposing bank to be F'ed up due to an overly lean condition. I do remember the A/F on my wideband gauge being somewhere around 16-17:1 when I brought it home that night missing and the sensor is in the left bank, right after the manifold. If you think you are having problems with an injector, DON'T wait for it to fail completely or you risk engine damage! Instead of buying aftermarket injectors, you can get stock replacement injectors. I believe the "new" ones are in parts now, the same ones they would replace them with. The old ones are 5C3E-DB, whereas the ones that you get now are 5C3E-DC. I have 2 of these if you can figure out which cylinder it is that you are having a problem with. Q might need to back me up on this to make sure this info is correct.

Ok so I have a little update......I called my buddy today to see how things are going and he said they got it all apart and the piston is, to put it lightly, fuked! I told him I would come by to check out things. I went by there and he handed me the piston and I have never seen anything quite like it. One whole side all the way down has no rings, they are burnt off and all bent up, the side of the piston is scratched, and right below the rings (or where they are supposed to be) is a huge hole about 1/2 the size of a quarter. He took some pics and I forgot my camera but I should have em in a few days. He said I'm getting a new engine out of all of this because of the damage to the block, piston, and inside of the head. Also all those metal particles went down in the crank case so god knows what they got into. They have a mechanic that has been there for over 30 years workin on it so I am very happy about that. I'm gonna have to slide this guy a franklin or 2 before it's all over, cause he seems to be doing awesome on it.
