You really can't go wrong with Motorcraft 5W-20 oil and the FL-820S filter.....

Changing the filter is way more messy than removing a drain plug.

 

I am going against the grain but it's what I've used with great results. Less friction frees up pony's, so there are some gains to be had changing to synthetic and my dyno runs were above-par for the most part (268rwhp minus the efans and cat deletes).

I am running Royal Purple synthetics in everything. It is indeed expensive but you are able to run your truck further without an oil change, so it weighs out. Around here there is only 1 store that carries it, so it's hard to get a hold of. I would go this route or Redline synthetic oil only from now on. I use a K&N filter, but I'll probably go back to motorcraft, and never will I go back to Wix. By the way the combo I have been running lately, nets me fantastic mileage for 37's, even for stock it's fantastic.

 

IM at 50,000 and used redline 5w 20 since the first change, its expenseive but i do it myself. the Motorcraft filter is good, its what I use

 

Not sure what your point is...but that's where plastic zip-lock bags come in handy. I rarely spill a drop.

No worrries.
The one with a nipple works great...just attach a length of tubing to the nipple, then empty it right into a storage jug. No need to mess with a drain pan.

I think you can jam a smaller-diameter length of tuning into the ones without the nipple.

 

My vote is for Castrol Syntec w/ the K&N oil filter, you'll feel a difference .

 

What exactly do you mean "you'll feel a difference"? If you're referring to "feeling" an increase in power, there's no way. At absolute best, the differences in oil will yeild you MAYBE 1-2 hp. That cannot be felt... If you're referring to the feeling as being a smoother running engnie, then I suppose that is at least possible, although I still doubt it.

I'm not saying that all oil is the same, because it definately isn't. Of course synthetic is better, with Mobile1 and Royal Purple being my personal favorites.

How did you get the Fumoto valve installed up right. I installed it and tightened it like it said. Its sideways. I know it wont come loose since its almost impossible to turn anyway.

I've got one on three differnet cars, and all of them are a bit crooked.
It really doesn't matter how it's clocked, it won't leak.

 

Where in my reply did I say that it would turn your truck into a NASCAR racing truck? All I said was that you would feel a difference, meaning that with Castrol Syntec or any other synthetic oil you would feel a difference from the old conventional oil, which I personally did feel a difference in the way my truck was running; it just seemed to have a little more pep in her step. Therefore I felt a difference.
For all I know it could even be just the (K&N) oil filter I used or the combo of the two.
