Anything new for '08?

I'm probably going to be getting back into an F150, and was wondering if there was anything coming in the '08 models that will be worth waiting for?

I don't think that there will be any big changes for '08. Expect a complete redesign for '09...

I doubt it wil be a full redesign, more likely a freshening. Probably a new front clip, new power train options, maybe some interior updates. A full on redesign can cost several hundred million dollars, more money than Ford has to spend right now. The current design has a lot of useful life left in it, it's only on it's fourth year.

I believe the 09 will have the new tranny also. I think I remember reading that in my latest 4wheeler magazine.

The "powerblock" on spikeTV said Ford F150 will have a diesel in '08...

National Television... somthing like SpikeTV *shouldn't* be wrong.

4.4Liter is what they said.

Diesel engine is scheduled for 2010 model year which means we should see it in 2009.

I've seen the engine, it's a variant of the Landrover engine but not the same.

Sorry, I suppose "complete redesgin" was the wrong choice of words. I just hope they don't make it too ugly! I like the way they look now, but a 6 speed tranny would be nice...

Con't: F-150 Gets Bragging Rights!

To keep a leg up on the competition, Ford announced a High-Load version of the F-150. It carries more than 3000Lbs of payload & isd rated to tow an 11,000-pound trailer. The rating's available only on regular-Cab longbeds, so it beats every other half-ton max towing rating, with GM & Toyota winning on extended & crew cabs. Note the GCWR with this package is 15,800 Lbs, a bit under GM & Toyoya's top number.

I don't have proof but if I were to guess, they will do to the F150 in 2009 exactly what the did to the Super duty for 2008. New front and rear fascias. A new interior and some powertrain changes. Probably a small diesel and a six speed auto as mentioned before.

Just take a look at a new Expedition for the taste of the nose to come. I think they look pretty cheap with all that plastic chrome.
