mudding questions

How to do keep the mud from getting clogged up in the radiator and condensor because last weekend i went fourwheeling and got enough mud stuck in there the truck overheated and set a check engine light. Is there anyway to protect this more or is this just part of mudding?

Welcome to off roading.... Mud gets everywhere, on my old hunting truck "90 Ranger" i used to take a presure washer to it every week after hunting normally on sundays. Making i got the U joints in the 4wd good, would spend a good 30 mins - 1 hour spraying the suspention, fram, brakes, drivetrain, engine. that stuff will eat bearing and everything else if it works it way down in there. i dont know much to stop it form getting in thoes hard to reach spots. But a good cleaning in need afterwards.

There really isn't much you can do other than stay away from the mud. Like flexpipe said, clean your truck well and often. Also, if you are planning on going mudding several days in a row, it doesn't hurt to give it a little bath after each day, just to keep it from building up underneath the truck.

That being said, I've only had mine out a couple times mudding and never came close to this problem. Has anybody else had this happen? With all my last trucks which I went mudding with fairly often, it never was a problem.

If you do it, just accept that fact that it happens and be prepared for hours of squirting and thinking "Geez how did the mud get there!!!" and "There wasn't this much mud in the whole dang pit"

Here is a shot of one our motors after a little mudding:

They said it all, but just make sure you take care of all the grease fittings as often as you can especially if you use a pressure washer.

Yeah i forgot about thoes, but also on a dedicated mud truck(hunting truck) good idea to repack wheelbearing every 6 months or so. take them out clean them really good and repack with grease. sand or grit in a bearing is bad bad news

I was only mudding for two hours and my engine looked twice as dirty as the picture vader showed. But last year i went in at least twice as much mud and did not have a problem, i guess i just got mud in the right place.
