New Purchase Nomenclature - Help

Am buying a new 2007 SCrew within a week. Reading forums I see some phrases I am not sharp on. Help.

What is the difference between the employees A plan and the friends X plan price? Have any of you outside the A or X plan purchased at a price to the A or X plan buy level?

Upon a contract a charge for FDFA was added. It was explained by the Salesman that it had to do with transportation and advertising. There was alread a Destination Charge of $925.00. I have looked up FDFA and cannot find the definition. Any of you know FDFA?

What was your trick word that got the Salesman's/Manager's attention to bring the price down to your hoped for level.

Thanks guys. Just had 2002 SCrew totaled by a T-bone by a DUI.

Where and what contract does it say FDFA? Usually when anything is written on a contract it's explained. Take a good look at your copy and i bet you will find your own answer.

If you want something closer to your desired price range just say you cant afford to buy the car right now cause it's too high and heres the tricky part..... Just leave ! They will usually call you back and say they can help you out or something. We have gotten all our cars that way BMW, MERCEDES and FORD.

Thanks forthe reply.

Actually my Son-In-Law is doing the buying. I used me as the buyer to cut down on the narrative. The FDFA was picked out of another thread, and the Salesman explained it was for advertiseing and transportation. I thought it to be BS, but if I run into it I want to be ready. The FDFA was for $545.00, which I thought nuts.

When I bought my '04 RCab I wrestled with the Sales Manger so much he just gave me my keys without any attempt to show me through my new pickup that I had just taken delivery on. To me, they are just salesmen who have a cookie cutter type of pitch that bounces from what the buyers says. This is strickly a buyer's beware game and I am trying to gather all the info I can to front for my S-I-L.

Another approach which I use, is not to go through a salesman, but instead go through fleet services. It's not really known that the average joe can go through there, and there tends to be much less haggling due to the fact that the fleet service guys don't make commission. Tell them what you want, they'll pull up what they got in the computer, and give you options. I know this doesn't answer your direct question but its just some advice. Also where on the west coast are you, I'm from riverside. Best of luck.

I'm near Fresno. But I did 9 years in SBdoo. Does that count? I did buy Fleet in SBdoo when I lived there and it was cut and dried.

I just bought a 07 Screw in February on the X Plan which worked out to be around 3% over dealer invoice. Supposedly there is no negotiating of price, however I did indirectly. I had a trade in and I negotiated the price of the trade in.
With the X Plan, Ford cash back and the dealer “finding” some money I knocked about $6800 off the MSRP. The X Plan alone saved me about $3000.
The trick is always to leave the dealership. Make up your mind what you want the whole cost of the truck to be and don’t get into the cost of the payment game. I gave my sales rep a number and when they didn’t meet it I got up to leave. Low and behold the manager came out and wanted to know why I wouldn't by his truck. Two hours later I was driving home with my new 07 Screw.
My payments are about $20 less a month than my 04 double cab Tacoma and I ended up paying less overall than I did for my Tacoma brand new in 04.
I don't think I could have negotiated a price that low without the X Plan.

All the above is great advice. I bought last 3 vehicles on the internet and didn't talk to a human being until we agreed on price. Much easier to "walk away" with a click of the mouse.

Again, thanks to all who responded to my purchase query.

I too bought my last F-150 via internet. Plugged in all the accessories I wanted then shotgunned it out to several Ford Dealers. Got several responses and with the one I picked who had the best price/accessories mix I went to telephone and ****ered some more. My only problem was getting a ride some 19 miles away to pick up my new rig.
