2006 f150 STUDDERING ???

I have a 2006 F150 FX4 and it only has 6000 miles on it. I had to replace the torque converter already around 2000 or 3000 miles. Now the truck feels like it studders in between 45 and 60 mph. Also when it idles it is idling rough, almost like it is studdering when it is idleing. I was trying to get some feedback on what it might be. I have run fuel system cleaners through it and that doesn't seem to help much. I am not sure if it is a transmission problem or not. The mechanic says that it is my spark plugs but I have had them replaced as well. (On a side note is there an aftermarket spark plug for the 2006 f150's, because I don't like the stock ones, they say that they run cooler but they are more hassel than anything).

My 05 does this while I have the cruise on running stock. I'm pretty sure mine is the torque converter locking and unlocking. I haven't taken it to ford to have them check it out yet.

Is your mechanic Joe Blow Mechanic or are you referring to an authorized Ford Mechanic?

Sounds like an injector problem, take it in and tell them to flush the injectors. Cleared it up for me for awhile anyway.....

Jusnes Modified has some Autolite plugs:

According to the site, you should use the OEM heat range plugs (not the cooler plugs) unless your engine is fairly heavily modified. Personally, I'd just stick with the OEM Motorcraft plugs.

I had a really bad vibration between 45 and 60 and it was b/c the mechanic didnt place the front drive shaft back the way it was supposed to after he installed my new tranny. Has it been doing it since the torque converter swap? If so then that may be your problem

----It's not a bad vibration more of a skip/slip. But I did have torque converter swapped and was fine for a while, but now it is acting up again.

----I haven't had the fule system flushed, but I will get them to do that when I bring it in.

Does it feel like a 'miss' or a 'studder'?

If missing - sounds like the classic injector problem. Unfortunately, injector problems are quite prevalent on this 5.4.

Yup - they certainly are - I have at least eight of them myself lol.

~ Never pass up a very rare faux pas - j/k ~

Agree - injectors perhaps - as symptoms persist at speed and at idle ...

You mean I wasn't already, Boss?

List ... I'm guessing it's not the Xmas card list, eh?

Time to whip out some hail Mary's as pennance.

With someone as alarmingly precise & articulate as you, it's very difficult to pass up on these exceedingly rare events ;-)). Lack of sleep is my prognosis.

Shan't happen again. Honest.lol

Cheers

Good point... you were already there. You now have two checkmarks next to your name. Don't get strike three...
