AVIC-D3 after you input a location you want to travel it stores the route then you can take the nav disc out then watch movie... I dont know whether it has split screen navi/movie but I know you can then watch movie then switch to nav without reinserting the nav disc.

I was going to go with the z1 but for the price and better ipod controls of d3 im going with that.

It has inputs for an add-on DVD player, has one CD drive that can read CD-R/CD-RW and play mp3s and it also has the DVD drive that only plays the Nav-DVD. This way, it can do Navigation even if you are listening to a CD. I don't think the D3 can play a CD and nav at the same time. Not unless it can store a route in some type of flash memory.

From what I understand, most aftermarket units will not work w/ the factory rear seat entertainment units unless you can find some type of adapter that will support the CAN bus.
Hey nytehawk, do you have some pics of your d2, I will like to see how it looks, I'm looking at the same unit but I'll like to see pics to see if it has a factory look.

Thanks in advance
