I'm planning on installing a McGaughy's 2/4 drop on my 2004 SCREW this weekend. The front and rear seem pretty straight forward. My question has to do with the carrier bearing on the 2 piece drive shaft. I have the carrier bearing relocator w/ the kit. Do I need to cut off part of the bracket that is currently holding the carrier bearing to mount the carrier bearing relocator?

 

I don't have a screw, but I do have a scab and I just put my 2/4 mcgaughy kit on this weekend. Yes, you will need to cut off the bracket unless there is a spacer between the bracket and carrier bearing, if there is just remove the spacer. I lucked out and had the spacer.

 

I can't answer your question, but i do have a carrier bearing spacer/relocator kit that came with my Ground Force kit.. I have a regular cab and didnt need it.

Unfortunately, I dont have the spacer on the carrier bearing mount. The bracket is welded to the crossmember and the carrier bearing is bolted to it. So if I do need the relocator it looks like I'll have to do some cutting

I called Mcgaughy's yesterday afternoon because the bearing relocator that I recieved didn't look anything like the picture I was looking at on the net. I do have the right part, the picture from the site I bought it from has a generic pic up. They (McGaughy's) told me that I probably wasn't going to need the relocator since I bought the kit that lowers the rear with leaf springs. They said that the relocator was needed when using a flip kit on the rear because it actually lowered the truck a bit more. They said to install the kit and then if I had a low speed vibration (about 10 mph) then to install the carrier bearing relocator. I guess I'll give it a shot and see what happens.
