Air intakes....

Hey guys...i know the air intakes have been covered and covered but..just wanted a quick opinion.

I cant decide if i should go with a Volant or Airaid or Airaid JR.

I keep hearing good and bad things about volant...mostly the sound.
I have a k&n air filter already so i could just get the airaid jr tube for 100. What would you guys do? I have an early 2004 if that means anything

I am going to eventually get the Volant cause I like how the filter is protected from mud and water by it's case.

I had a intake from K&N on my 01 and it worked well, I have the Volant on my 04 screw and I really like it. I like the enclosed box instead of the open element like the K&N I had on my last one. IMO

Is it completely protected? This would sell me on a volant if that was the case... I just want to make sure it's completely protected instead of just covered...

Take a look at the new S&B intake a few threads down. Its enclosed and its at a good price. I was looking at the Airaid Jr but now I may get the S&B but thats after a few more purchases I want first.

I really like my volant. if you take the lid off you lose some of the noise but it really isnt that bad... i just loosened and tightened the mounting screws back up and it pretty much went away. I would howver look at the SB, just cuz of the cost.

Are the airaid and the S&B oil or dry filters? Any one know if either kits have caused the trucks to throw CELS?

You can get the S&B at jegs.com. It's not that expensive. $206 plus shipping. Thats a lot better than the Volant, Airaid, and K&N by at least $50.

The S&B is oiled and they have a kit that shows you how to oil it without over oiling it like most people do. Theres a video on there web site that shows you how to oil it.
