No, the unit does not light up when you have it connected to the computer, that is normal.

This has already been done & documented to death. As I said - peruse the Chips forum for that info.

I'd take a conservative number over an inflated one any day.

And, I can use all of my tunes - no shudder, perfect throttle response, incredible midrange - and totally safe A/F's - imagine that

I can surely see where it makes sense that a custom tune ........ with a followup check on the dyno (or other method of checking A/F ratio's) should be better than a canned tune..........but if you think that no one has had issues with a custom tune................check out the forum on the SCT site (there have also been a few posted on this one)?
I think what is most important is to make sure you do business with a reputable company that stands behind their product (good support). Also, I've been monitoring this forum for several years now and I have seen very few documented comparisons between tuners, actually I have seen no comparisons that were more than seat of the pants opinions (still very noteworthy though). It would be nice if someone could do a non-biased detailed comparison, but I doubt that will ever happen.

Yes, and not without it turning into a pissing match as a byproduct. Every time I see someone comparing tuners it turns into mine is better than yours contest. I'd just like to see a real comparison without the extra BS.

Hi.

Meaning what, exactly? By saying 'too' , that means, you got a set with your tuner? Great. Thanks for your useful, contributive, insightful post

Dribone - I recognize the Xcal2 take longer to switch tunes, but I don't switch often (don't tow) - I leave it on my highest octane max perf tune, as thatr's where the mileage gains are - and the fun.

For those who are stuck perpetually in denial, my condolences.

There are several fairly impartial, well written comparisons already posted - even one that favours the Edge for that person's needs - one needs only to get off their lazy a$$ and search for them. I'm not gonna do it for ya this time

Done here - the most experienced F150 tuner has already weighed in ( many times) with the facts - he's tested them all - the results speak for themselves.

Yup - the SCT forum has examples of folks who chose the wrong tuner (the person, not the device). That's why you go with the best - not for zero problems (that does not happen in the real world), but to minimize the risk of problems, and further to ensure that if one does arise, the support is there.

I respect everyone's freedom of choice. Good luck.

Cheers
Bubba

My opinion on the cost increase is if they don't have the shudder fixed they shouldn't raise the price period. Not to say I don't think the tunes aren't better than the Hypertech that I first tried. But I don't run level 3 as much as I would like to. This is one of the reasons I'm going to get the live wire when it's available. The other is how much praise Mike get on here for his costumer service. When I ask Edge about the shudder the first guy I spoke with said he has never heard of this issue The second person said someone on here sent him some links about this issue but had no answer and said every truck is different I like the Edge I have, I only paid $235 for mine used so that makes it even better but I also want to run level 3 when I want without the shudder. I really like the gauges it gives so until the live wire come out it stays. But when it's available this will go on ebay as fast as my Hypertech did. I just hope Mike does a group buy for it when it's first released.

There was a guy that posted the results of comparing the Edge and a Troyer tuned Xcal2. I think it was about a year ago, so if you are really interested, as was said above, do a search and find it. As I recall, he gave the Edge the nod because it fit his needs the best, and that is what is most important. I bought the Edge because it fit me best. I was not interested in getting the maximum performance out of my truck, I just wanted marked improvement. I do not have the interest nor the time to do all the data logging required of the custom tunes. I really wanted the gauges that Edge provides. So for me, it was a no brainer, and I am totally satisfied with my Edge and the 7 months of trouble free fun it has provided. Were I one of the guys that has had problems with theirs, I would not be happy at all. Someone did a dyno with the Edge and as I recall, it added about 25 hp and some nice torque. I have no doubt that Mikes tunes add a little more hp and torque, but I do not need it. I do not race my truck, I just want to feel the kick in the seat of my pants from time to time, and I want it to respond when I need to pass on the highway. The Edge does that wonderfully for me and I can monitor 21 or so things while doing it. So, just figure out what fits you the best and go for it.

I have read all the posts involving comparisons in the past (I think moe's post was the favorable one?...might have that name wrong).............I mentioned that there was some comparisons done. What I meant was......with detailed data..... dynotesting, A/F's, etc. I was not trying to be negative towards either option, that is why I mentioned that I thought (my opinion) the most important thing was to do business with a reputable company that stands behind their work. Please don't take what I stated the wrong way.

Thanks
