buy 19 different autometer guages and tell me if the price is comparable to the edge.

Any canned tune is going to be 'weak', compared to properly executed true custom tuning. It always has, and will always be, that way. Custom is also safer, if done properly.
This has already been done & documented to death. As I said - peruse the Chips forum for that info.
I'd take a conservative number over an inflated one any day.
And, I can use all of my tunes - no shudder, perfect throttle response, incredible midrange - and totally safe A/F's - imagine that

i don't doubt that about the custom tuning for one minute, but i think those are better for the people who (and i'm not singling you out) set it and forget it. guys with the edge (from what it seems) like to play around, swap setting to their liking. on top of this, I couldn't imagine Edge with all their R&D putting a product on the market that's going to foul the motor.
Personally, I like the edge because on saturdays i can tow a 5000 pound trailer and on sundays i can race around town with totally different results.
I'm going to buy mine from Troyer. I like being able to converse with someone who can relate to my vehicle & driving conditions. PLUS the friendly AND rapid response. That's worth a few bucks to me.
Just my $.02

i heard the latest update is free from bugs, and the level 3 is more responsive/more power. the only issue i have is once I plug the edge into the USB, it doesn't light up or anything. should it?

Mine has never lit up, until I upgraded my edge software. I will say this I am having trouble with my edge turning on with the truck. I am having to unplug and replug it back in then it works fine for a few weeks. I guess I should call them but my 1 year warrant has been gone a long time?
I just updated to calibration version 23 (still unstable) and the edge didn't light up until the end of the loading cycle. Normal. I've heard version 23 helped solve level 3 shudder on some vehicles, hopoefully mine's one of them.

...plug-n-play....no problems......no shudders.
