Something does not seem right.

The truck is a 5.4 3v with 45k miles. Magnaflow si/so 3" pipe from y-pipe back. This is the only engine mod. I am running 295/70/17 nittos.

I may be jumping the gun on this but, when I floor it from a dead stop.....
1. The truck takes off like a bat out of hell.
2. Between 1st and 2nd gear I loose tons of power and feel a surge.
3. When it hits 2nd its like a bat out of hell again.
4. The rest of the way it feels great.

When I take off with my normal driving habits the truck feels fine.

When I felt it do this the fuel gauge was almost on empty.
I have not had a chance to put fuel in this weekend but I will first thing Monday.
Has anyone else had this happen. I will repost after i fill up.

Once the fuel light is on you will feel the truck lose all power when demanding full throttle from a stop. I think it's a design flaw, but it's considered normal.

That makes complete sense.
I might just be looking too hard for something to get fixed under warranty. It runs out in 28,000 miles.

Nice truck Nate. I am looking for some Lt handles. I was also looking for an HD grille until I saw the one from Roush.

Yeah, it's "normal" for our trucks. Not good to run the tank so low.

What fuel lights are you speaking of? The one that flashes the words "low fuel level" intermittently on the dash's information screen when the fuel is running low, or is there a sperate fuel light you are speaking of?

I think he means the words that show up.

I topped the tank off today and all seems well. Just a wierd low fuel thing.

I have a Lariat, so I get the warning message in the info center at 50 miles 'til "E", but it's my understanding that all of these 04+ trucks have a low fuel warning light or message. I'm not familiar with the way the low fuel light works...so there you have it.
